Did Russia just steal America's Bitcoin plan and beat them to the punch? Well, while Russia is passing massive Bitcoin law, America's Clarity Act deadline is only 48 hours away, and everyone is wondering what is going to happen to Bitcoin in America. So we have a lot of updates to cover for you today, but I want to start with this clip of Senator Tim Scott. For some reason, I was gonna call him Tom Scott. Tim Scott just released this morning. I think it's gonna give us the best context for where we stand.

So you have been working on this bill. The Senate has been working on this bill for over a year. Do you believe it can get across the finish line this week before you leave? Or is this something to attack when you're back?

This is something we should have the first vote before we leave without any question. John Thune has an opportunity to tee it up for a vote before we leave.

So obviously, still a lot of optimism that it's going to get passed. So just to give you a timeline of events here, just to keep you informed of when the deadlines are going to officially happen. So the official timeline that we've all been fed is that by end of day Friday, if nothing happens on the Clarity Act, it's not going to happen before the summer recess, which means until September 11th of this year. Now, that is even debatable, because when they come back, everyone's pretty well aware that it's going to be the midterms, right? So there's still some lingering hope that maybe it could get passed by this year, but most people are on the fence on that even being a possibility, that most likely if nothing happens today or by tomorrow, the Clarity Act is DOA. Now, you did hear Senator Scott say that they might be here to the weekend. So the official, official recess deadline is Monday, August 10th. So that does give a little extra time that maybe Senate will work overtime on the weekend and maybe the Clarity Act has some last-minute hopes on this. And for you guys that hang out, we are going to get Alex Thorne on the show, on the tail end of the show around 1.3 today. So he's going to come in. He's been in Washington, DC. He's been a Bitcoin insider on the hill talking about the Clarity Act. So we will have some firsthand knowledge of what is going on with the Clarity Act, but just to give you an update on where it stands officially is obviously there's still some fights on certain provisions of the Clarity Act. Now, again, Eleanor Tarrant, she's been doing a great job covering this. This was posted on the 4th, so that is Tuesday. And she goes, Procedural matters related to the on-going CR would explain why Leader Thune didn't file cloture on the motion to proceed to the Clarity Act this evening. Again, that would have been Tuesday. Though not having the votes and major issues still being debated likely are also a factor. Once the procedural matters on the CR are resolved, it leaves room for Thune to file cloture as soon as tomorrow. That would have been yesterday. Nothing happened yesterday. Increasingly, that would have been the expectation. Again, now it's kind of being led into today. That maybe today we'll see something, which would put a potential Clarity Act vote on the schedule for 30 hours after he files. Again, that's if it was filed on Wednesday. But that's why you're hearing Senator Scott say, hey, if it gets in today, that would need the 30 hour necessary time limit. So that would go over and spill over into Saturday.
Again, how this all shakes out is anyone's guess, given the bill's outstanding issues, which include the lack of bipartisan ethics agreement, still silence from the White House, and disagreement still brewing over the BRCA, which is for us Bitcoin is probably the most important part, that is the developer protections that we've covered before. But I'm hearing, and I think this might be like the biggest white pill of this. It's not that good, but this is probably the best, honestly, until we get Thorne, Alex Thorne in here later on in the show, probably the best case scenario of this. And I'm hearing from a lot of folks that at this point, there's also a desire just to get members on the record, even if the bill fails. So that's kind of where we are. I did like this take from Jeff Park of Bitwise. I think this is also a pretty good take. You guys, my contrarian take, Bitcoin will benefit when clarity fails. It will be shamelessly clear that the political class has been fully captured choosing institutional cartels over consumer prosperity. Bitcoin is the best escape hatch from sanctioned debasement and organized plunder. Honestly, I'm kind of leaning towards this being like the best case scenario. This is going to be the silver lining of all this.
