Tom Gresham (0:52)

Hey, this is Tom Gresham. We hope you enjoy this reloaded version.

Welcome to Gun Talk, I'm Tom Gresham, glad you could be here. Happy birthday, America. 250 years on this Independence Day weekend. So we're gonna have a special Gun Talk today and invite you to be part of it with your thoughts about our country, about the anniversary, about how we came to be what we are, about where we are today. I have a lot of things to talk about. I got some thoughts, kind of some reminiscence that I want to do. Well, of course, we'll talk Independence Day. A little bit later on, we're going to be talking about guns of the revolution. And there are some myths out there, a lot of them, no surprise, perpetuated by movies about the American Revolution, and about the guns that they used and the capabilities of those guns. And I have to admit, I got a lot of it wrong, because, what do they say? A lot of the stuff you learn is from the movies. If you don't have any other place to learn it, and if you learn it from the movies, it's probably wrong. Just simple as that. So let's see, as I'm doing the show today, just so you know, and those of you who follow me on X, you may have already seen it, I posted, I'm wearing, from the live show today, I am wearing America's gun. I got a 1911 and 45 on. And I also had a special hat made up, a ball cap. Went on Amazon and created it, just because I thought of it and said, well, I can do this. And it's a MAGA hat.

It's red, it's got the white letters on it, but it doesn't say what you think.

It says, make Americans gunfighters again. You can go over on X and take a look at it. I like it. It was just a wild here. The thought, I've already had people say, as soon as they saw it this morning when I posted it, they said, we're gonna get one of those. I said, well, I had it made. You can have it made, go on Amazon, just get it done. If you like the idea of make Americans gunfighters again. So I was thinking about who in the world, who, who, who, who would I have to help me kick off the 250th Independence Day weekend celebration on Gun Talk?

Well, it's kind of obvious, isn't it? Who else would you have but Ted Nugent? So I grabbed Ted, here's that interview.

Ted Nugent (4:25)

It's gonna be the best year of my life and the worst for my enemies. It's a great balance, Presham.

Tom Gresham (4:32)

All right, we're joined right now by Ted Nugent. Of course, he is the Motor City madman. He has done so many things. It's unbelievable. How are you, my friend?

Ted Nugent (4:40)

You know, I'm doing so good, it's stupid. I improvise, adapt and overcome my family, my band. I got my 13th grandchild, River Wolf Nugent. I got a bunch of FRT triggers, so brass rainbows are us. My hunting dogs are the best hunting dogs in the world. Am I missing anything, Tom?

Tom Gresham (4:57)

Well, no, let's say that you're inducted to the Legends of Outdoor Hall of Fame, being inducted into the Michigan Outdoor Hall of Fame. This is just way beyond all of the Motor City madman, rock star, unbelievable guitar picker, and all the other stuff you've done. You know, there are people who know you from your music, but there are people who know you from your outdoor activism, too.

Ted Nugent (5:19)

You know, it's a great balance. Lucky me, I was born in Detroit in 1948, right along the Rouge River, which was just a wildlife paradise winding through the Motor City there. And my dad was already a follower of Fred Bear. He had such an influence around the country, but particularly in Michigan, where he started Bear Archery. So like all kids back then, I was addicted to projectile management. I made my own slingshots and the Daisy Red Rider BB Gun ruled supreme, but I made my own bows and arrows down by the Rouge River. And we'd go north and hunt and actually stop and visit Fred Bear in Grayling, Michigan from the time I was born. So that influence really guided me on a powerful, inescapable, true north compass setting. So here it is 78 years later, and my music is so wonderful. My band, my wife Shemaine has become such an advocate for constitutional Christianity conservation.
