It's September 18th. New York Rangers News Today starts now. AI-powered and ready for kickoff. All right, so the New York Rangers just kicked off their training camp, and you know what that means. The real work begins. They brought in a whole lot of new faces this summer, trying to shake things up and build a stronger squad.

Coach Mike Sullivan's got his hands full figuring out who plays where. But on day one, we got a peek at what the lines might look like when the season actually starts.

One of the big stories is Pavel Dorofeyev landing on the second line. He's got the potential to be a serious goal scorer, and they're pairing him with JT. Miller and Oliver Bjorkstrand. Miller had a bit of a down year last season, so the team is definitely hoping he can find his groove again. If that trio clicks, it could really set the Rangers up for success.

Beyond that top-heavy setup, the bottom six lines looked pretty much as expected. The third line featured Ili Tovinen, Noah Lava, and Will Kyle, while the fourth line had Joe Valino, Ty Cardi, and Jaroslav Chemela.

Nothing too shocking there, just a lot of pieces being put in place. On the defense side of things, a notable pairing was Alberts Smits skating with Braden Schneider. The team has been pretty open about giving Smits a real shot to make the roster. And honestly, he looks like he's in a good position to do just that. It's always interesting to see who gets that opportunity. So, even though it's just the first day, getting some early line combinations out there is a good sign. Things can definitely shift as camp progresses, but it feels like the Rangers have a solid starting point to build from as they gear up for the season. Ahead.
