Today is October 7th, New York Rangers.

News Today starts now, AI powered and ready for kickoff. All right, so let's dive into the New York Rangers and their solid start to the season. After a rough opening night loss of the Boston Bruins, they came back strong with four straight wins, matching their longest winning streak of the 2025-26 season. It's nice to see them finding their groove early on.

Goaltending is looking superb, earning an A grade. Igor Shesterkin is doing what he does best, winning three of four starts with the goals, against average of 1.75 and a save percentage of .926. He even scored a goal, becoming the first goalie in Rangers history to do so.

That's a big one for any goaltender's resume. On the blue line, the defense has also earned an A general manager, Chris Drury, revamped the lineup and it's paying off, especially that top pairing of Adam Fox and Vladislav Gavrikov. They've been solid and the new additions are giving them the depth they needed. It's great to see that change up making a difference right away. The forwards are graded A-B. They've been okay offensively, but they need to be better, especially from some key players. Alexis Lafreniere is off to a decent start, but guys like Pavel Dorofeev and JT. Milan need to step it up. More scoring would really help this team keep rolling. Lastly, the special teams and coaching both get a B and A grade respectively. The power play is doing fine, but there's room for improvement while the PK has been solid.

Coach Mike Sullivan is looking re-energized, which is a great sign. It's all coming together, and if they keep this momentum, fans in Madison Square Garden might just get playoff hockey this spring.
