It's October 19th. All right, big news from the New York Rangers. They just brought in Luke Glendening on a professional tryout agreement. This gives the veteran forward a shot to make the team. Now, Luke's been around the block for a while. He's 37 and has put up 20 points in a season. But what he lacks in scoring, he makes up for in reliability and leadership. You know the Rangers could definitely use that kind of vibe right now. Glendening started out with the Grand Rapids Griffins, posting 26 points in one season before getting to the NHL. He made his mark with the Detroit Red Wings, playing over 500 games and even wore an A as an assistant captain for a couple of years.
That kind of experience is huge. After his time in Detroit, he moved to Dallas where he had a solid two-year run, scoring 12 goals and 10 assists. He played a key role on special teams during the Stars recent playoff appearances, which is definitely valuable in tie games. With the Rangers struggling to find the back of the net, Glendening's defensive skills and leadership could be just what the team needs to turn things around. It'll be interesting to see how he fits into their lineup moving forward.
