It's October 16th, I'm Corey with the story. This is New York Rangers News Today, driven by AI and built for fans. Alright, got some news from the New York Rangers. Bettering goalie James Reimer just signed a professional tryout with the Hartford Wolf Pack.

This move is all about adding some goalie depth after injuries hit the top two guys on the roster. Reimer's been around the block. He's played 539 NHL games in his 16 season career. That experience could really help the team evaluate their options before locking him into a regular contract. It's a smart play for sure. Dylan Garand's been getting his shot lately, and he's got a three and two record this season. But after allowing four goals on just 13 shots and a rough loss to the New Jersey Devils, the Rangers might be looking for extra support. Coach Mike Sullivan still believes in Garand, saying he's played sound hockey so far.

On the scouting side, Scott Clemson is checking out other options too. Even though the Rangers aren't in a panic mode just yet, having a list of potential goalies is always a good strategy. They have some time to figure things out while Garand takes the reins for now.

So bringing Reimer on board feels like a solid backup plan. If he still has what it takes, he could be a big help to the team moving forward. With three contract slots open, it makes sense to see if Reimer can step up and be that reliable option if needed.
