Today is October 17th. Alright, so the New York Rangers just made a move for goalie depth. They added James Reimer to their American hockey league team, the Wolf Pack, signaling some strategy behind the scenes. This is more about reinforcing their depth than making a big splash.

During the latest edition of the 32 Thoughts podcast, insider Elliotte Friedman hinted at this need for more goalies. With injuries affecting their lineup and only two goalies available in Hartford, Reimer's addition makes sense. It's all about that strategy, right?

Reimer joins a lineup that's currently got Dylan Garand and Spencer Martin. Korpisalo is still recovering from his injury, so getting an experienced guy like Reimer should help steady the ship. Depending on his performance, he might just get in the mix for the Rangers down the line. For the immediate future though, the Rangers might still be looking around for more options. With a few veterans like Petter Mezek and Matt Murray still available, they could explore the free agent market if Reimer doesn't pan out. You gotta keep that flexibility.

So, definitely an interesting time for the Rangers as they navigate their goalie situation. We'll see how Reimer fits into the plan and if they end up making another move soon to solidify their roster. That's your update from New York Rangers News Today, powered by AI.
