It's October 7th. I'm Corey with the story. This is New York Rangers News Today, driven by AI and built for fans. Okay, big one today for the New York Rangers. They made some solid moves in the off season, boosting their depth and overall talent. For the first time in a while, they had some real cash to spend, and they focused on adding speed and offensive firepower. Now, they kicked off the new season with a pretty good record of three wins and one loss.
That's a way better start than the one they had last year, especially at home. It's nice to see that turnaround, for sure. But here's the catch. Despite those improvements, the Rangers are lacking when it comes to high-end talent. That reality is clear from the recent NHL Top 100 player list put together by ESPN. They've only got two players on that list, and while they're solid, they're still missing that elite presence. Goalie Igor Shesterkin and defenseman Adam Fox are those two players.
But it's surprising to see Shesterkin drop to 35 after being ranked 14 last season. Injuries impacted his performance, but it's tough to see him slide like that, especially with three goalies ahead of him. Fox, on the other hand, moved up just one spot to 51, which feels right considering he's a top defenseman in the game.
As long as those two stay healthy, the Rangers have a real shot to compete every night. The team's off to a good start, so let's hope that continues.
