It's September 13th. This is New York Rangers News Today, Teen News powered by AI. The New York Rangers kicked off their rookie series with a tough loss, falling to the Philadelphia Flyers by a score of 3-2.

It was a game that highlighted some growing pains for the young squad, especially in their own end. The Rangers offense actually looked pretty decent, with both of their goals coming on the power play. They had a couple of chances there, and they capitalized. But at even strength, they struggled to contain the Flyers top line, which really made them pay. You saw some big hits early on from guys like Cole Beaudoin and Spencer Bowes trying to set a physical tone. The Flyers matched that intensity though, and ultimately had the scoring touch to pull out the win. Alberts Šmits, a high draft pick for the Rangers, had a mixed game. He picked up assist on both goals and showed off his size, but he was also on the eyes for all three Flyers goals and had some puck handling issues.

Early on, the Flyers scored the game winner just 45 seconds into the third period and while the Rangers answered back quickly on the power play, they couldn't find the equalizer. They'll get another shot at the Flyers tomorrow afternoon to even things up.
