It's September 17th, New York Rangers News Today starts now. AI powered and game ready.

I'm Corey with the story. Last season was rough for the New York Rangers, man. They were struggling, especially at home. And then key players got hurt, landing them way down the Eastern Conference standings. Captain JT.

Miller even said there was more negative energy than positive vibes floating around. To fix that, General Manager Chris Drury made some big moves this summer. They brought in some new talent like forward Pavel Dorofeyev, who can really put the puck in the net, and defensemen Sean Durzi and Marcus Pettersson. They also traded away Vincent Trocheck. These new faces are bringing a fresh sense of optimism as training camp kicked off. Dorofeyev, who's 26, scored a ton of goals last season and should give the offense a much needed boost. The team ranked pretty low in scoring last year, so he's expected to make a difference.

Durzi and Pettersson are also stepping into strength in the defense, playing alongside Adam Fox and Vladislav Gavrkov. With Trocheck gone, JT Miller is looking like he'll be playing center full-time. He's ready to leave last year behind and feels good about the changes. He mentioned it felt like the season never ended, but there's a lot of excitement in the locker room now. The Rangers have missed the playoffs the last two years, which is tough after making it to the East Final back in 2024

But, with a new year and a lot of changes plus a wide open division with some uncertainty around their rivals, the team feels confident. They believe they have the talent to surprise people and exceed expectations this season.
