Today is October 16th. Okay, big one today for the New York Rangers. They hit a wall with a tough loss, getting smashed by the New Jersey Devils 7-1 last night. After riding high with 6 wins in their last 7 games, it's a real blow to their confidence. In the first period, things looked decent for the Rangers. They even killed a 5-on-3 power play, which is no small feat.

But then, a turnover by JT Miller led to a goal for the Devils. That's a tough break, and definitely took the wind out of their sails.

Things went south fast in the second period.

Dylan Garand, who has been filling in for the injured Igor Shesterkin, got pulled after letting in 4 goals on just 13 shots. Coach Sullivan isn't pinning this on him, saying Garand's played well overall. Still, the change didn't help as Spencer Martin came in and gave up 3 more goals himself. The Rangers got away from their usual strong defensive game, giving up too many quality chances and struggling to generate offense. They had only 19 shots on net, which just isn't going to cut it. JT.

Miller pointed out how disconnected they were, and it's clear they need to regroup and get back to basics. Now, they've got a big test coming up against the Columbus Blue Jackets. It'll be key to see if Garand can bounce back and if the team can reclaim their solid style of play. It's time to shake off that loss and show what they're really made of.
