Today is October 12th. Alright, so some interesting stuff about the New York Rangers and their goalie, Dylan Garand. He passed their waivers unclaimed earlier this season, which is a huge relief for the team.

With Igor Shesterkin out for the season, Garand stepped up just when they needed him most. Then there's the buzz that the Rangers almost lost Garand to another team. Elliot Friedman mentioned on his podcast that a mystery team had their eyes on him. That's got to make you think about how close they came to a major shakeup.

Now, the Winnipeg Jets seemed to be the likely suspects for that mystery team. They needed a goalie to back up Stuart Skinner and claimed Clay Stevenson instead. Garand was on waivers the same day, so it's clear they were weighing their options.

What if the Jets had grabbed Garand instead? He would have likely seen plenty of ice time in Winnipeg, but they probably wanted someone with more experience, which Stevenson offers. Lucky break for the Rangers, for sure.

Finally, on the trade front, Friedman shot down rumors about the Rangers trading for Connor Hellebuyck. But if the Rangers keep on winning, they might feel pressure to make a big move. So, the possibility of a goalie trade is still hanging around, even if it seems unlikely right now. That's the story for today. New York Rangers News Today, driven by AI. I'm Corey with the story.
