Today is October 10th. I'm Corey with the story. This is New York Rangers News Today, driven by AI and built for fans. All right, folks, we got some tough news coming out of Ranger country. Igor Shesterkin is done for the season after suffering a lower body injury during their recent loss to the Washington Capitals. He was making a play out of his crease when he hit the post and went down hard. That's a big loss.

Shesterkin had been on fire to start the season, posting a tiny percentage before his injury. Mike Sullivan expressed just how disappointed everyone is, emphasizing that Shesterkin is a key part of the team's identity and success. It's a real gut punch for the organization.

With Shesterkin sidelined, the Rangers now have Dylan Garand stepping into the starting goalie role, while Joonas Korpisalo is expected to miss another month. Sullivan believes Garand can rise to the occasion, and they're also calling up Spencer Martin to support him. It'll be a real test for Garand and the rest of the squad, no question. Players like JT Miller are trying to keep the energy high, stressing that Shesterkin's injury won't kill their momentum. But it's hard to ignore the gravity of losing someone like him, especially when they've been pushing to build a strong start this season. So the Rangers gotta rally together now?

With 78 games to go, they're gonna need everything they've got to keep things rolling without their star goalie. Time will tell if they can manage this setback and keep their season alive.
