Alright, let's talk about the New York Rangers off-season moves, specifically the goalie situation. The big buzz is around trading for Joonas Korpisalo to back up Igor Shesterkin. Now, most fans are feeling pretty good about what the team's done, but this goalie acquisition is causing some friction. The main beef seems to be two-fold. First, it likely means Dylan Garand, who showed flashes of brilliance last season, is heading back to Hartford for another year.

Second, Korpisalo's performance last season wasn't exactly stellar, and he's got two more years on his contract with a $3 million cap hit. This is the kind of debate that's going to simmer all season, especially if Garand ends up on waivers and another team snags him. He's no longer exempt from that, so it's a real possibility.

Meanwhile, across the league, Connor Bedard was officially named captain of Chicago Blackhawks at 21 years old, making him the second youngest in their history. We're also seeing some big contract extensions being handed out, with Ryan Leonard in Washington getting eight years and $84 million, and Drape Batherson in Ottawa landing a similar eight-year deal worth $86 million. And in Detroit, with no general manager in place, Shawn Horcoff has stepped up as interim GM. There's also news about contract talks heating up for players like Adam Fantilli and Luke Evangelista and a potential trade rumor involving Dylan. Larkin and the Minnesota Wild.
