It's October 7th. All right, so let's talk about Chris Drury. The Rangers GM has taken some heat lately, but it's time to give credit where it's due. He's made some big moves that are paying off, especially with the team making a playoff push. That turnaround is impressive, for sure. First off, Drury's draft pick of Alberts Smits is turning heads. The kid's only 18, but he's fitting in seamlessly on defense. Not just fitting in, he's playing at a high level, showing he's a real gem. You can't underestimate finding talent like that.

Then, there's Alexis Lafrenière.

Drury believed in him when others didn't, and it's looking like a wise decision. Lafrenière is not only scoring, he's also contributing defensively, which is a nice bonus. Coach Mike Sullivan's using him in tight situations, and that says a lot about his growth. Now, there's one area that's not looking so hot, and that's goaltending. Igor's been struggling lately without a goal or an assist. It's tough to see a player with such potential slump like that, but there's still hope he'll bounce back.

So overall, Drury's made some smart moves, and the Rangers are on the right track. It'll be key to see how they keep this momentum going as they gear up for the playoffs. That wraps New York Rangers News Today, brought to you with AI. I'm Corey with the story.
