It's September 28th. Alright, big news from the New York Rangers today. They just placed young goalie Dylan Garand on waivers with the intent to send him to the AHL. This move stirred up quite a bit of chatter among fans and analysts alike. Garand, who's only 24, had an impressive showing last season in limited play.
He finished with a 2-0-1 record, a 1.62 goals against average, and a save percentage of nearly 95% in three NHL games.
That's some solid performance from a young guy. Fortunately for the Rangers, Garand cleared waivers, which means he'll be heading to the Hartford Wolf Pack for continued development. The team clearly sees potential in him, but with Igor Shesterkin and Joonas Korpisalo healthy, there just wasn't enough ice time available. Got to give him the right environment to grow. There was some debate about the possibility of carrying three goalies to start the season. But honestly, getting Garand more action in the AHL is a smart play.
It's all about that strategy, right? So while he didn't make the roster for the opening night against the Boston Bruins, this could work out for Garand and the Rangers in the long run. Fans will definitely want to keep an eye on his progress with the Wolf Pack this season. That's your update from New York Rangers News Today, powered by AI.
