It's October 18th. All right, let's dive into some insights for Marcus Pettersson over with the Rangers. He's got a unique perspective since he spent a good chunk of time with Mike Sullivan's Penguins before making the leap to New York.

Pettersson's seeing some familiar vibes in how the Rangers are starting to shape their game early this season. He mentioned how teams often look for their identity at the start, and it sounds like the Rangers are really embracing that checking and forechecking style that made the Penguins successful under Sullivan.

Pettersson's all in, saying everyone's bought into the system so far. That's the key to their success moving forward. Pettersson is also stepping up on the blue mine, mainly paired with Sean Durzi, and has contributed offensively with a couple of assists. At 30 years old, he's got a nice chunk of his contract left, and is set to play a vital role in solidifying that defense for the Rangers. That's big for building some stability in a competitive league. Their penalty kill is also turning heads. With the Rangers currently sitting at six wins and only three losses, they've managed to kill off almost all of their penalties, holding a success rate in the top tier of the NHL. It's been crucial, especially with their star goalie Igor Shesterkin sidelined for the season. So, the Rangers are looking good, with this blend of Sullivan's philosophy and Pettersson's experience. As the season unfolds, it'll be interesting to see how they keep building on this identity and push through the challenges that come their way.
