Today, September 29th. Okay, so big news for the New York Rangers. Coach Mike Sullivan's hitting a milestone on Tuesday night in Boston. It's his 1000th game behind the bench in the NHL, making him just the 33rd coach to reach that mark. That's a real honor, for sure. Then there's the fact that this game is especially fitting for Sullivan. He's originally from the Boston area, and even played with the Bruins early in his career. It kind of feels like fate that he celebrates this milestone in front of a hometown crowd.

Meanwhile, there's some action on the trade front as the Toronto Maple Leafs and Columbus Blue Jackets made a blockbuster deal just before the season kicks off. The Leafs snagged forward Kirill Marchenko, who seemed unhappy in Columbus.

It's a big move since they signed him to a six-year deal worth $75 million.

On top of that, there's more injury news shaking up the league. The Minnesota Wild placed defenseman Brock Faber on IR with a concussion, and goalie Filip Gustavsson will also miss time after hip surgery. Not the best start for those teams, you know? So, it looks like the Rangers are gearing up for what should be an exciting opener, and the league is already buzzing with trades and injuries. Keep an eye on how things unfold this season. That's the story for today. New York Rangers News Today, driven by AI.
