Rangers Coach Critiques Team After 7-1 Blowout | New York Rangers News

Today is October 16th. Alright, so the NY Rangers took a tough hit last night, losing 7-1 against the New Jersey Devils. This loss snapped their strong start to the season, leaving head coach Mike Sullivan pretty frank about what went down. Sullivan said, We just lost ourselves, which really hits home. The Rangers had a solid record of 6 wins and 2 losses before this game, ranking high in both goal differential and goals allowed. That's a big one, and now they got to figure out what went wrong fast. Then there's the fact that the Devils scored 7 goals on just 31 shots.

That's a crazy 22-6 shooting percentage. It completely flipped the Rangers' numbers overnight, with their goals allowed average rising significantly.

You can't let that kind of split happen, especially against a team that wasn't exactly high scoring. Also, the Rangers are facing a serious test in goal, with Igor Shesterkin out for the season. Dylan Garand started strong with a 9-5-1 save percentage before this game, but he was pulled after allowing 4 goals in 24 minutes.

The pressure's on him to step up now, for sure. So yeah, the Rangers need to regroup quickly. It's only the start of the season, but this blowout raises some red flags. They've got a lot of work to do, and fans will be watching closely to see how they bounce back from this. This has been New York Rangers News Today powered by AI.
