Today is October 19th. You're listening to New York Rangers News. Today, AI-powered coverage of your squad. All right, so it looks like the Rangers are making some moves. They just signed veteran center Luke Glendening to a professional tryout agreement.

This comes right after 4th Line Center. Joe Veleno got placed on long-term injured reserve for 3 to 3.5 months due to a lower body injury.

Glendening's got quite a bit of experience under his belt.

At 37 years old, he played for the Devils and Flyers last season. He turned a previous tryout into a one-year deal with New Jersey before being claimed off waivers by Philly. Gotta love that hustle. Last season, he recorded 2 goals and 7 assists with a face-off win percentage of 52.9 in 70 games. For someone whose game focuses on depth, that's not a bad stat line at all. Definitely adds some skill to the mix. Now, just a heads up on how this PTO thing works. Glendening's tryout lasts a maximum of 10 days, and he can't play in any games during that time. If another team comes knocking with a contract offer, the Rangers have the right to match it within 48 hours. So, we'll see what happens with Glendening. It's a solid move for depth as the season gets underway. The team's definitely looking for some options after that injury blow.
