It's October 16th. This is New York Rangers News Today, driven by AI, your team, nonstop. All right, so the Hartford Wolf Pack just locked in goaltender James Reimer on a professional tryout contract. This comes after some tough news for the New York Rangers with Igor Shesterkin out for the season and Joonas Korpisalo sidelined for about a month due to injury.

Now, with their goaltending depth taking a hit, the Rangers are feeling the pressure.

Dylan Garand and Spencer Martin got the call up, leaving the Wolf Pack with Calum Tong and Gabriel Carriera as their only options. Not exactly the kind of situation you want to find yourself in, that's for sure. Reimer's addition gives the Rangers a boost in that department.

He could step in as a backup for Garand until Korpisalo returns. It's all about that depth when injuries hit, right? The guys got some serious experience too. Reimer's been in the NHL for 16 years, playing for teams like the Toronto Maple Leafs and Florida Panthers. That kind of veteran presence can be super valuable in a tight spot. So the Rangers are making moves to adjust to their new reality. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out while they navigate through this challenging stretch.
