Today is October 16th. Alright, so the Rangers are standing by their rookie goaltender, Dylan Garand, after a rough outing. He got pulled after allowing 4 goals on just 14 shots in their 7-1 loss against the Devils. That's got a sting for him, especially after such a solid start to the season. Head Coach Mike Sullivan made it clear this wasn't on Garand. He praised his performance thus far, saying the kid's competitive and has played well.
That kind of support from the coach is crucial when you're struggling. Definitely a good sign moving forward. Garand's already had a world-win season. He was cut in training camp, went through waivers, and ended up back with the Rangers once the team faced some injuries. He even started strong, winning his first two games before this hiccup. Shows how quickly things can change in the NHL.
To add some depth and goal, the Rangers signed veteran James Reimer to a professional tryout. He's got over 500 games under his belt, which could be invaluable for the team right now. It's all about that experience, right? So the Rangers are putting their trust in Garand while bringing in Reimer as insurance. The next few games are going to be crucial for both of them as they navigate this challenging stretch without their top goalies. This has been New York Rangers News Today powered by AI.
