Today is September 29th. All right, so the New York Rangers have announced their roster for the opening night of the 2026-27 season. They're set to take on the Boston Bruins, and you can feel that excitement in the air.

After a tough previous season, the team spent the summer focused on improvement instead of a full rebuild. Chris Drury made it clear that this Rangers squad is looking to compete right away. They brought in a bunch of new talent aiming to add depth and strength in key areas. So, this season's Rangers are shaping up to be a more competitive version of what we saw last year. In net, it's no surprise that Joonas Korpisalo and Igor Shesterkin are the chosen goalies, especially after waving Dylan Garand. It's good to see the team making clear moves to solidify their goaltending strategy as they head into the season. On defense, the Rangers made some significant upgrades, especially after last year's injury to Adam Fox.

They brought in Sean Durzi and Marcus Pettersson via trades, while also including their fifth overall pick, Alberts Smits. Keeping Scott Morrow and Matthew Robertson on the roster shows they're serious about their depth this year. And at forward, Matt Rempe is making the squad after bouncing back from injury, along with Jaroslav Kemlar. With 13 forwards, 8 defensemen and 2 goalies, the Rangers are definitely ready to give it their all against the Bruins.

It's going to be a thrilling opener for sure. That's the story for today. New York Rangers News Today, driven by AI.
