It's October 5th. This is New York Rangers News Today, AI-powered stories from inside your team. Alright, so the Rangers had a solid start to their season. After a rough opening loss to the Bruins, they bounced back with 3 impressive wins in a row. They're currently sitting at a record of 3 wins and 1 loss, and they've got some momentum heading into the next stretch. Igor Shesterkin made history by becoming the first goaltender in Rangers history to score a goal in a game against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Plus, rookie Dylan Garand snagged his first NHL shutout against the Red Wings. That's a huge accomplishment for the kid, becoming just the fourth Ranger goalie to pull off a shutout in his first 4 starts.

They racked up 6 points and are atop the NHL standings, but it's not all perfect. They've only managed 8 non-empty net goals so far and haven't been stellar on the powerplay, going just 2 for 11

But hey, they're showing signs of improvement in their home games, already matching last season's win total in just 2 home games. Coming up this week, they've got their arch-rivals, The New York Islanders, on October 6th. This game is going to bring some heat, especially since the Islanders swept the series last season.

It'll be a battle between Shesterkin and Ilya Sorokin, both of whom have big stakes in the rivalry. Next up, they face the Capitals on October 9th and the Canucks on October 11th. It's a busy week and they'll have to keep up that energy if they want to maintain their early season success. Definitely an exciting time for Rangers fans.
