Alright, so the Rangers are shaking things up again with a new signing.
They just brought in veteran Luke Glendening on a professional tryout, looking to solidify their fourth line. If he makes the roster, this will be his 14th season in the NHL. Glendening's had a solid career, playing for the New Jersey Devils and Philadelphia Flyers last season. He's got over 900 games of NHL experience and brings a steady presence to the ice.
Having that much experience is definitely valuable for the team. He might not be lighting the scoreboard on fire with just 85 career goals, but he excels in defensive zones and faceoffs. He won 57.2% of his draws last season with the Flyers. That kind of reliable play can make a real difference in tight games. With Joe Veleno out long term, the Rangers have been rotating through options on that fourth line. Rookie Cole Bodewin and veteran Justin Dowling have already rotated through, but neither has the depth that Glendening can provide. He's not flashy, but he knows how to handle himself out there. So, Glendening's signing could be a smart move for the Rangers as they navigate some injuries and lineup changes. It'll be interesting to see how he fits in and helps stabilize that fourth line while they wait for Veleno to return.
