Market Moving Insight and Analysis join Jim Cramer, David Faber and me Carl Quintanilla on the opening bell hour of CNBC Squawk on the Street. Good Monday morning. Welcome to Squawk on the Street. I'm Carl Quintanilla. Jim Cramer is back at Post 9 along with me and David Faber here at the New York Stock Exchange. Futures are backing off a touch from Friday's big reaction to Jackson Hole and the Dow's record close. Big week ahead for the AI trade with Nvidia, Dell, CrowdStrike and some consumer names like Gap, Urban and Ulta. A roadmap begins with the market set up going into this possible September rate cut. Plus, of course, some talk about Nvidia's earnings this week.
David Faber (1:35)
Also ahead, the government does take that 10 percent stake in Intel, one of President Trump's key advisors saying more transactions could be on the way. And Keurig Dr Pepper is buying the Dutch coffee company JDE Peet's price tag $18 billion. We'll talk about that deal.
Jim Cramer (1:53)
Nice.
Carl Quintanilla (1:54)
Before we get to the markets, Jim, we're so glad to have you because even in these dog days of August, a lot happened last week.
Jim Cramer (2:01)
Look, I got to tell you, I thought that I had picked the right, you know, you look at the calendar, January. So what week won't, where nothing will transpire. Well, no, that's not the world we're in. And I think that everything from a belief that Jay Powell was going to somehow be hard, be a no dove, to the president just making news like there's no tomorrow. I mean, everything that makes me feel that you can't, there's no time you can go away anymore. You just can't. I mean, look, when I was growing up, my father used to go to High Point, North Carolina, for some shows that he had to do for one of those many businesses that was like just okay.
And then it just fell down, fell down. Well, the president wants to bring back High Point, North Carolina furniture. He also wants to bring back Grand Rapids, Michigan, David, the home of Steelcase, which has got that great different HNI, which happens to be all American. So we just, it just doesn't matter. You're going to find something every, it's not going to slow down. I will say that I thought that it was great that Powell did what he do, because I don't like the way that, I don't like the, you gotta get that home equity loans down. That was the takeaway from the Home Depot call, which was a seminal call. We just don't have enough projects because people are very uncertain. That's what they said. But also we need short rates down if only so we can get some home equity loans, David. So I don't think, what?
David Faber (3:21)
Nothing.
Jim Cramer (3:22)
Oh, okay.
David Faber (3:22)
Nothing. What? Was something wrong?
Jim Cramer (3:24)
I don't know. You looked at me like something was wrong.
David Faber (3:26)
I've looked at you the way I always look at you. Maybe you're out of practice.
Jim Cramer (3:29)
I probably am. I'm used to my wife looking at me and saying stuff.
David Faber (3:32)
Lovingly. So lovingly.
Carl Quintanilla (3:33)
She's probably glad to have you back at the office.
Jim Cramer (3:35)
Yeah, you are.
SPEAKER_9 (3:36)
Thank you. But my point here.
David Faber (3:38)
Yes, sir.
Jim Cramer (3:39)
Is that we have a situation where I am afraid that we lower rates short end and then the long end goes up. So the mortgages don't work out, but we do get home and put in a loan and we do need something going on in housing. Housing is 10% economy. Punches above its weight. And not everything can be enterprise so far.
