**Katelyn Burns** (0:01)
Was it Matilda?
**Eleanor Janega** (0:02)
Matilda of Tuscany.
**Christine Grimaldi** (0:03)
Yeah.
**Katelyn Burns** (0:04)
Of Tuscany, my favorite CK3 character.
**Eleanor Janega** (0:07)
She's so good. It's really fun to play as Matilda of Tuscany. Yeah.
**Katelyn Burns** (0:13)
Yeah, no, my eyes lit up when you said that. I was like, I know that one.
**Eleanor Janega** (0:17)
Yes, and she played that blinder on that one, didn't she? She was really like setting it up. She's like, do it at my castle.
**Katelyn Burns** (0:25)
What I found is just thinking about your episode that we're totally sidetracking, but this is what history nerds do. What I found interesting was when the Holy Roman Emperor enters the court, she's sitting equal height with the Pope.
**Eleanor Janega** (0:43)
Crazy. That's crazy. Who does that?
**Katelyn Burns** (0:46)
Which is awesome.
**Eleanor Janega** (0:47)
Matilda does that. I love her. I'm a huge fan of Matilda. I'm a huge fan of the Empress Matilda. I'm a huge fan of Matilda of Tuscany. I like all these women who are just like, now I'm doing it. I don't care.
They're fun. They're fun. I have to say.
**Katelyn Burns** (1:04)
Not to be confused, by the way. No.
**Eleanor Janega** (1:07)
Although I could understand why you would confuse the two.
**Christine Grimaldi** (1:10)
No. Yeah.
**Katelyn Burns** (1:12)
All right, Christine. Guess what time it is.
**Christine Grimaldi** (1:16)
What's it time for?
**Katelyn Burns** (1:18)
Let me just go ahead and do this.
**Christine Grimaldi** (1:23)
Pope Cancelus I has returned, everyone. She is risen.
**Katelyn Burns** (1:29)
The pope hat has returned, which you can all see on our YouTube channel.
**Christine Grimaldi** (1:34)
It suits you well.
**Katelyn Burns** (1:36)
Thank you.
It shall remain on for the remainder of this episode because... Who are we canceling today?
**Christine Grimaldi** (1:43)
We are canceling pope fights.
**Katelyn Burns** (1:45)
Pope fights. Yeah.
**Christine Grimaldi** (1:49)
It's a pope on king, pope fee president, pope fee daddy.
**Katelyn Burns** (1:55)
Pope fee daddy.
**Christine Grimaldi** (1:56)
Yeah. Like daddy king.
**Katelyn Burns** (2:01)
We're going to party like it's the 30 years war again. Hey everyone, I'm Katelyn Burns.
**Christine Grimaldi** (2:06)
And I'm Christine Grimaldi.
**Katelyn Burns** (2:07)
And you're listening to Cancel Me, Daddy.
**Christine Grimaldi** (2:10)
The show where we take a closer look at all the panic around political media.
**Katelyn Burns** (2:15)
With political analysis.
**Christine Grimaldi** (2:16)
And verbal shitposting.
**Katelyn Burns** (2:20)
Christine, we're back at it again.
**Christine Grimaldi** (2:21)
Yes, we are.
**Katelyn Burns** (2:23)
So we are about to have the amazing Eleanor Janega back on. Because there's been a couple of things in the news that have big historical precedents.
And whenever Popefuckery comes around, we just got to turn to her.
**Christine Grimaldi** (2:40)
You know, this time though, I actually think I'm on the side of the Pope.
**Katelyn Burns** (2:44)
Yeah, it feels weird.
**Christine Grimaldi** (2:46)
It feels so weird.
**Katelyn Burns** (2:47)
So for those who don't know, the Catholic Church, there's two things happening recently. Okay. First, the Trump administration threatened the Pope by threatening to create like an anti-Pope that sits in America, kind of like the Avignon Pope. So we're going to talk to Eleanor about that. And the other thing that happened recently that I found really fascinating is the Catholic Church declared this group of bishops called The Society of St. Pius X. They declared them to be in schism, right? So when you're in schism, it means, and we're going to go into this with more detail, but it means they are disobeying the orders of the Bishop of Rome, right? Which is, you can't do that if you're a Roman Catholic.
So all of these bishops and their parishioners and all these other people have been excommunicated, which is, as you know, a favorite topic of the show.
**Christine Grimaldi** (3:47)
Is this kind of like with Mel Gibson's dad and his weird, like Australian, even more conservative than Catholic version of the Catholic Church?
**Katelyn Burns** (3:57)
Possibly.
I'm not sure. But basically, these people don't believe in the Vatican Second Council. So they believe that masses should still be conducted in Latin. They have really horrific views about women and LGBT people, like even worse than the mainline Catholic Church.
**Christine Grimaldi** (4:16)
And that's saying something.
**Katelyn Burns** (4:18)
And that's saying something. So I think people get too caught up in the, you know, they just have doctrinal disagreements, when in actuality, like, they're really, really, really harmful in their beliefs.
**Christine Grimaldi** (4:33)
Good question for you.
**Katelyn Burns** (4:35)
Yeah.
**Christine Grimaldi** (4:35)
