Hello, and welcome to the PC Perspective Podcast. This is episode 887 being recorded on October 7, 2026 It's the anniversary of the Nokia N-Gage being released in 2003, by the way.

I'm Sebastian Peak.

Jeremy Elstrup (0:21)

I've never had an N-Gage. I'm Jeremy Elstrup.

Josh Walrath (0:25)

Last Nokia I had was probably in 1999 I'm Josh Walriff.

Brett Vandenberg (0:32)

I hit send on the e-mail and didn't hit okay.

That's why you didn't get one. I apologize.

Josh Walrath (0:39)

That's my fault.

Brett Vandenberg (0:40)

That's my fault. I'm Brad Fransprunberg.

Kent Burgess (0:44)

Speaking of 20th anniversaries, this past Monday was the 20th anniversary of the reopening of the Superdome after Katrina.

And the Atlanta Falcons welcomed all the fans back very brilliantly. I'm Kent Burgess.

Jeremy Elstrup (1:01)

Engage.

Sebastian Peak (1:02)

I was going to say, it's Captain Picard's favorite handheld phone slash game system.

All right. Let's do some housekeeping and say thank you to all of our patrons. Go to patreon.com/pcper and join the hundreds, possibly thousands. Just throwing a dollar here and there, it all adds up and it keeps this podcast going. And this is our PBS fundraising moment. It does.

Brett Vandenberg (1:36)

I'd like to go in and look for people who've changed their names or done something humorous with their names. So go on in there and do that. Give me something to work with, as it were.

So let's keep the amusement rolling for us and you, because only you can help us be as amusing as we need to be. No, strike that. I don't know what I'm talking about. But yeah, Patreon. Really appreciate it. Thank you so much.

Sebastian Peak (2:02)

People are throwing money at creators all the time. Put us on your list. Don't just give it all to Alec at TechKnowledgeyConnections.

Josh Walrath (2:09)

We could be one of them.

Sebastian Peak (2:11)

Let's move to one of the most important segments in podcasting history. Food with Josh.

Brett Vandenberg (2:18)

Oh, oh, oh.

Josh Walrath (2:20)

I gotta reach, gotta reach. Why? Because I have a list of exactly what is in this burger.

So this is a new one for me. The Pastrami Mami. It is a seven ounce patty topped with pastrami, pickles, white American cheese, and finally, a Cajun style, a Thousand Island dressing.

Jeremy Elstrup (2:46)

And paprika?

Josh Walrath (2:50)

Well, the fries are, you know, Nashville hot.

Jeremy Elstrup (2:54)

Oh, okay, spill over.

Josh Walrath (2:55)

Spicy fries.

So yeah, no, it was quite a good, and it was a really interesting pastrami. I mean, some people like pastrami, some people do not. I happen to like it. But the combination of all that was really nicely set off. I mean, you got the good beef failover, you got the pastrami, you got the white cheddar. And then to kind of, you know, cut through a lot of the fat, you got the pickles. So the pastrami-mami was really good, really good.

Jeremy Elstrup (3:31)

Now, what did you think of Buchanan's? And more importantly, did you stay for Whiskey Wednesday?

Josh Walrath (3:38)

I did. I went on Tuesday. It was not terribly busy. The steak frites, which is kind of interesting because I didn't know that steak frites was served on a slice of garlic bread.

Must be a Calgary thing.

Jeremy Elstrup (3:53)

Yeah, that's that's unique. Yeah.

Josh Walrath (3:55)

So anyway, the fries were good. The the steak was pretty decent. The what kind of it's a boob, boob, non-boujolais, but what was the on steak frites? What's what's the sauce that they usually use?

Jeremy Elstrup (4:12)

Oh, bolognese.

Josh Walrath (4:13)

Well, no, no, that's bolognese, is tomato based. No, no, they should anyway. No, it's not it.

Let's just pretend it was a, it was a sauce. I don't know. But anyway, but yeah, no, Buchanan's was was was fun up in Calgary and I've only had one whiskey and let's see. Yeah, Wednesday I had to do other things and I probably would not be down, in downtown Calgary drinking three whiskeys. Probably a bad idea.

Jeremy Elstrup (4:55)

But it'd be fun.

Josh Walrath (4:57)

Yeah, sure. But no, that Whiskey Wednesday sounded interesting and they had a lot of it.

So I took a picture on Twitter of of the bar. And yes, there there were a lot, a lot of whiskeys. Neat place. The waiter had been there from like 27 years.

They keep the help. Yeah, there's another guy from like 30 years. I think they opened in 1985, 86 So the people who owned it have treated them very well, and they just stuck around. So well-run place, very clean. Nice.
