Charlie Kirk (0:03)
My name is Charlie Kirk. I run the largest pro-American student organization in the country, fighting for the future of our republic. My call is to fight evil and to proclaim truth. If the most important thing for you is just feeling good, you're going to end up miserable. But if the most important thing is doing good, you will end up purposeful. College is a scam, everybody. You got to stop sending your kids to college. You should get married as young as possible and have as many kids as possible. Go start a Turning Point USA college chapter. Go start a Turning Point USA high school chapter. Go find out how your church can get involved. Sign up and become an activist. I gave my life to the Lord in fifth grade. Most important decision I ever made in my life, and I encourage you to do the same. Here I am. Lord, use me. Buckle up, everybody. Here we go.

All right. Welcome, everybody. It is September 9th, 2026 And I think as I'm just sitting here getting ready for the show, it strikes me that one year ago today, we were just going about our business the way that we always had, and we had no idea what the next day would entail. And that's a heavy thing to think about, I will tell you. And tomorrow is the one year anniversary of losing Charlie. And so this whole week, we have devoted to remembering him and what his legacy means and what that means for the country and so many other people that loved him and knew him. One of those people is Anna Paulina Luna, a congresswoman from Florida who is part of Charlie's legacy as well. And she joins us right now from Dallas. She's at the RNC there. APL, it's good to see you.
You are part of Charlie's legacy as well. And I wanted to start today's show off.
You are in Congress. You're doing a great job there. Charlie was so proud of how hard you were working, how you read the whole rule book before you even...
Rob Schneider (2:26)
It's got to be a long book.
Andrew (2:27)
Yeah. He was so proud that you did the work to actually understand the way that your new job in Congress at the time worked. And he just... I remember him talking about that a lot. Like nobody knows what they're doing there, especially as freshmen, but you did. And you've been using the rules. And anyways, he was proud of you. And I want you to know that.
Tell us about the first time you met Charlie.
Anna Paulina Luna (2:47)
The first time I met Charlie was actually at the Young Women's Leadership Summit. And so I didn't know at the time, but he was scouting me for a position as the National Hispanic Outreach Director with Turning Point USA. And I will never forget, I'm like, this is really weird. I just went to the summit and now Jessie Waters is reaching out and come to find out it was actually Charlie that had pitched me to Jessie's to basically see if I could do media and really fulfill the role. And I'll never forget, but literally the day before I was supposed to leave to go to medical school, Charlie called me and offered me the position.
And actually one of my most fondest memories is actually you're in the videos, also Tyler.
But it was the day before the 2022 election. And so Barack Obama had just dropped a robocall on me for my opponent. And Charlie came down into this massive event in Pinellas County, and we packed it out. And then the next day I won. So that was kind of the cool. I remember turning point alumni to Congress.
Andrew (3:43)
I remember seeing you and your husband backstage at that event.
Rob Schneider (3:47)
Yes, that was great.
Blake (3:49)
We should remember, I mean, 22 was a tough election year. So he was very proud that he had your win as something to celebrate. And what was otherwise a tough year.
Andrew (3:59)
Yep. That was great. And so you spent a lot of time with Charlie. It's a lot of those clips that the people play. I mean, there's that famous one where he's wearing the ice hat and he's the gal comes up and says, Why are you? Yeah, they're only two genders. Yeah, prove me wrong. So but you're in a lot of these clips. And people say, you know, they say, you know, that's one of the most famous clips when Charlie says, We talk because if we don't, then that's when violence happens.
