This is Believe, One Network, Every Topic, Everywhere.
**Lisa Bueno** (0:07)
Okay, our friends, so one good, chewy, sweet treat story deserves another.
**Philip** (0:15)
And today's story is actually the opposite of yesterday's story.
**Lisa Bueno** (0:20)
Because yesterday I read that I liked marshmallows, right?
**Philip** (0:22)
And so we read a book about marshmallows, but do you know?
**SPEAKER_4** (0:24)
Now you're reading that you hate gum.
**Lisa Bueno** (0:26)
I do, I really do.
**SPEAKER_4** (0:28)
Gum is the total worst.
**Lisa Bueno** (0:30)
It is.
**Philip** (0:30)
So today's story is called On Account of the Gum.
**Lisa Bueno** (0:34)
It was written and illustrated by Adam Rex.
And I want to go on record for saying, I believe I approach gum the way Willy Wonka does. He says, chewing gum is really gross. Chewing gum, I hate the most.
**Philip** (0:50)
And I agree.
**Lisa Bueno** (0:52)
But some people really love chewing gum.
**Philip** (0:55)
So we're going to, we're going to read this story and we're going to, we're going to talk about it.
**SPEAKER_4** (1:01)
Gum is the most impressive. Dash Darth Vader.
**Philip** (1:04)
Yes.
**SPEAKER_4** (1:05)
Only he says most and not least.
**Lisa Bueno** (1:07)
Can you imagine Darth Vader chewing bubble gum? How would he blow any bubbles through that mask?
**Philip** (1:12)
It would be ridiculous. Okay, so today's story is read by Mommy and Philip.
**Lisa Bueno** (1:19)
In the house. So in the picture, we see a little kid with gum, chewing their gum and they're in bed.
**Philip** (1:28)
Do we ever chew gum in bed?
**Lisa Bueno** (1:30)
Absolutely not, because you're about to see. So in their sleep, snooze, snooze, snooze, snooze, snooze, snooze, snooze. The gum falls out of their mouth, and that's the gum right there that you got in your hair.
It's gross, friends, we can see it in the picture, a big wad of pink chewing gum right in the middle of this kid's hair.
On account of that gum that you got in your hair, your dad said, sit still, and your sister said, doc! And you sat very still, and still the scissors got stuck in the gum that you got in your hair. Okay, we went on some websites, and all of them swear that if you want to get scissors and gum out of your hair, you take two sticks of butter and smear them along, and I see. Well, it appears those websites were wrong, because now in the pictures we can see, this kid has got gum and scissors and two sticks of butter stuck in their hair. Don't give me that look! Your aunt said she knew how to get the gum out from this tip in a book she was reading about in the paper or something. She couldn't say where. The point is, that's why you have grass in your hair.
**SPEAKER_4** (3:21)
Oh, gross!
**Lisa Bueno** (3:24)
And so, in the picture, things don't look great. Your grandpa, who said that your aunt was mistaken, is mostly to blame for the noodles and bacon.
It's all in this bacon-y noodle-y mass with the scissors, and gum, hair, sticks of butter, and grass.
Oh, your rabbit eats grass?
Because of the grass that you've got in your hair, I assumed that your rabbit could help us in there, but your rabbit just sat like it thinks it's a hat. So I thought, it'll leave if I bring in the cat. And I'm prepared to admit I was wrong about that. And so now in the picture, we can see the kid has got gum and scissors and butter and grass and noodles and bacon and a rabbit and a cat stuck in their head.
**SPEAKER_5** (4:28)
This is just disastrous.
**Lisa Bueno** (4:31)
Wouldn't you agree? Disastrous.
**SPEAKER_5** (4:34)
Oh, oh, I know what to do. It's a little bit mean, but the cat always gets scared when I clean. Just watch.
**Lisa Bueno** (4:43)
She'll run off and hide under the bed if the vacuum comes anywhere close to your head. Wait.
**SPEAKER_4** (4:52)
No.
**SPEAKER_6** (4:54)
I'm thinking of the old cat.
**Lisa Bueno** (4:57)
What is going on now?
**SPEAKER_4** (4:59)
Now there's a vacuum in her hair.
**SPEAKER_5** (5:03)
Your aunt just came back and she has a new take.
**SPEAKER_4** (5:07)
It's cake.
**Lisa Bueno** (5:08)
She thinks she can fix things with cake.
**SPEAKER_5** (5:12)
Don't worry.
**SPEAKER_6** (5:13)
We stopped her and showed her the door. I doubt she'll be coming around anymore.
**Lisa Bueno** (5:17)
Although the cake that she made you wound up on the floor. Oh, that reminds me.
**Philip** (5:28)
Happy birthday.
**SPEAKER_4** (5:30)
No, you're not supposed to wait for that.
