All right, good morning, everybody. Welcome to the party. Today is Friday, October 9th, 2026 This is Simply Cyber's Daily Cyber Threat Brief podcast. I am your host, Dr. Gerald Auger. Joined today live at Wild West Hack and Fest with my good friend, Michelle Kahn, my good friend, Lindsay Shield and Slay, and James LeQuiggin on the soundboard. James, good to have you here, buddy. All right, slightly off camera. We're gonna be bringing you some intense cyber threat news action live in the studio. So get your coffee, get comfortable. We're off and running. Beautiful Friday morning.

Good morning, everybody. Yes. So this is Daily Cyber Threat Brief. Basically, if you're new here, we're going to go through the eight top cyber stories of the day. Michelle Conner will gruffly comment on them while Lindsay gives her insights and thoughts. It's going to be a good one. We are live here at Wild West Hackenfest in Deadwood, South Dakota. Day, I guess, two for some of us at Wild West Hackenfest, day like seventy five for Dan Riordan, who's been basically male. His mailing address has been changed to Spearfish. We are going to go through the eight stories. We'll do the headline surface level stuff that you'll get anywhere else. What makes our show special? We are going to go beyond those headlines, give you additional insights, additional value that you're just not going to get anywhere else. And on these special occasions where we have a panel, you're going to get really diverse insights and perspectives from industry practitioners. It's going to be an absolute banger. I'm talking about the value train, if you will. Everybody pile into the caboose all aboard as we get our CPEs. Every single episode of the Daily Cyber Threat Brief is worth half a CPE. So basically, go on to cyberthreatbrief.simplycyber.io.

That's cyberthreatbrief.simplycyber.io.

And go to the CPE page right here. You'll see it very simple. Today's date, October 9th, episode 1262, because we're a bunch of bosses up in here. Careful on the table. We got liquids. All right. Go here. You basically put in your name, email address, two checkboxes, hit that yellow button. And then on November 1st, you're going to get a cute little email for me. That has an inventory of all the days that you attended and a PDF. This is basically a piece of evidence to show whoever needs to see it, that you were here and got those CPs. So you can get up to 10 a month, 120 a year if you are here on the regular. Do you want to give a special shout out to Florence, Alabama, live in the studio audience over there. Thank you very much. Of course, if you are here for the first time, you might think that this is an absolute wild card just like skittering on the tracks. That is what we're doing here. We're absolutely keeping it live. Just a quick shout out. The sports behind us will be changing to much more of a classic display of my screen. So we're going to get that short out in a minute. But if you are here for the first time, drop a hashtag first timer in the chat. Really quick, is this the first time you've been on the panel with us, Michelle? All right. Hold on. Yeah. Is he good to go? All right. So we've got a first timer, Michelle Kahn. So welcome to the party, pal. Hold on. Do we have welcome to the party on the soundboard, sir?

All right. Hold on. Let's do this.

Give me a second. Okay. Hold on. Music off and then...

There we go. I'll do it one more time. All right. That is for Michelle Kahn right there. Of course, Lindsey Shield and Slay, a regular on the panel. So we're absolutely going to get it going. I'm going to put the music back on. So, okay. All right. All right. So first timers, CPEs.

Oh, every single day of the week has a special segment, and Fridays has long been simply... Dad Joke Friday with James McQuiggan at 35,000 feet. James McQuiggan brings us fresh and piping hot dad jokes, which is interesting because two things. One, I don't look at these dad jokes before I read them live on air. So you get kind of a reaction the same as me. It's a lot of fun. We have been doing it for years. Quick side note, because of the special situation, Michelle Kahn, this Michelle Kahn and that James McQuiggan at 35,000 feet are actually the authors of A Megabyte of Jokes, A Dad Joke Book. So even though Michelle looks ultra serious, he's actually hilarious on the inside. So Dad Joke Sklore, we're going to get into that. And of course, at the end of the show, we will do the secret Easter egg show of Cyber Career Hotline. I do want to just take 30 seconds for our panel and welcome them. Michelle, welcome. You excited for this opportunity, bud?
