Well, good morning, everyone, and welcome to the Daily Cyber Threat Brief. I'm your host, Daniel Lowry, today, and we're going to have a banger because Jerry ain't here. We're going to have some fun. I got to mute this tab. Mute, mute. My goodness, I can hear it in my ear. I was making sure that the actual live feed was running. But welcome to the Daily Cyber Threat Brief, where we do a lot of fun. We talk about cybersecurity news today. We're going to get into the weeds. There's a lot of articles today. I think we've got nine articles to get through. Today's date, well, it's Wednesday, October the 7th. You have reached DC Daily Cyber TF, right? DCTF number 1260 This is right, this is 1260th episode. Jerry, I don't know how you do it, brother. I don't know how you do it. I always mention this every time I come on the tap dance that goes on to make this show go. He's got a nicer set up than me as far as like, it's geared toward making that happen. So you'll have to bear with me as I try to do my best, Jerry stuff here today. So like I said, what should you expect from this show? Well, we're going to go through the cybersecurity news of today. Thanks to the CISO series, we'll be relying heavily on them to do that for us. Well, as far as like giving us the headlines, and then we will discuss them. And that will increase your knowledge, probably your anger in some ways, shapes and forms. So that ought to be fun as well. But the cool thing is it's all not for, it's all not for not, is you do earn a CPE. Where is you CPE? Let me show you that goodness. Boo-yah, right there.

And it's good stuff because you need those things from time to time. It's very good for you as far as like maintaining certifications and continuing education credits. Like these things come in handy. So you earn 0.5 CPEs for attending today's brief. If you need that information, that's right here. Let me copy that. I will paste it and put it in the chats. Paste. Actually, I don't know if I can do that.

I don't have that capability. No, that's life, isn't it? But the cool thing is it is at cyberthreatbrief.simplycyber.io.

And of course, if you're looking for this, you can go to simplycyber.io, search around. It does exist. It is there. I have found it myself. So, very cool stuff. You'll see a Daily Cyber Threat Brief link, and that's where you're gonna want to go to get all this information. You can grab that 0.5 CPE credit towards your cybersecurity certification, CPE requirements. On the first of every month, we will email you.

I'm getting DJB6 says they can use ICPE.

I don't know what that is. I've never actually used a CPE. Fun fact.

I just, yeah, it just never came up. But if you need it, it is here and you can use ICPE apparently. So thank you, DJB6. All right, let's see here. What else do we got to get to? I've got a whole laundry list of things I have to talk about.

Just to make sure I get it. Oh yeah, you know what we need to do now? We need to let Jerry pay some bills. That ought to be a fun time. So Jerry will let him crank at this, and then we'll be right back right after a word from our sponsors.

Jerry Auger (3:40)

All right, quick shout out and thanks to the stream sponsors. Thank you, Daniel Lowry for hosting the show. Guys, on October 21st, Flair Academy is bringing in an amazing, as far as I've known, one of one opportunity for two hours on October 21st for absolutely free. You are going to be trained up by Tami Harper, one of the threat intelligence analysts, senior threat intelligence analysts over at Flair on how to build an investigation lab for the dark web. This amazing opportunity is allowing you to learn how to set up the infrastructure in order to go threat hunting on the dark web, which is something you really don't want to do unless you know what you're doing. It's kind of like candling malware. You really don't want to mess with it.

Join Tammy and other Simply Cyber community members for a fast-paced practitioner-grade briefing on building that lab. And it's not just about the technical skills of building that lab, but it's also how to build that identity, how to protect your own real identity, and how to plan for failure like suspicious downloads, rebuilding the environment if you have to tear it down and so much more. Go to simplycyber.io/flair, simplycyber.io/flair now to get the registration and save your seat for this amazing training on October 21st from 12 to 2 p.m. Also want to say shout out to ThreatLocker. Guys, go to threatlocker.com to find out all about what they are doing as the world's leading Zero Trust Platform. It's absolutely great what they're doing. They have solved application and deny by default years ago, and instead of just being the best at that, they have continued to lean in to trying to bring a default setting of deny or deny by default. Approved by exception only, whether it's network, cloud, or endpoint, software, access to resources, it doesn't matter if it's not allowed explicitly, it's not going to happen. What an amazing control at multiple levels for your organization. And go to threatlocker.com right now. If you are using ThreatLocker, drop in chat your experiences. I'd love to hear it. I know the other people in the community would as well. Finally, let's give some love to anti-siphon training. Now anti-siphon training is doing a whole bunch at Wild West HackinFest, which is where I am on my way to right now, about 35,000 feet. Maybe I'll see James McQuiggin floating by.
