All right, what's up, everybody? Welcome to the party. Today is Tuesday, October 20th, 2026 Welcome to Simply Cyber's Daily Cyber Threat Brief Podcast.

SPEAKER_2 (7:42)

We're going to close all the stuff out now. Okay, now we can talk.

Gerald Auger (7:45)

Oh, look at my hair. It's all crazy too, bro.

SPEAKER_2 (7:47)

There you go. Now Jerry's back.

Gerald Auger (7:49)

Can you hear me?

SPEAKER_2 (7:50)

Yes, I hear you.

Gerald Auger (7:51)

Can you see me? All right.

SPEAKER_2 (7:53)

I can see you.

SPEAKER_4 (7:54)

So yeah, I don't know what's going on, man.

Gerald Auger (7:56)

Like, you know, it's a classic day. The good news is we've had this issue once before, and I have a hardwired ethernet cable that's not 100 feet long going from my Switch to my main...

SPEAKER_2 (8:11)

Sounds like you need an XLR cable that's not 100 feet long.

Gerald Auger (8:13)

You know what it is, dude? It's the Go XLR. It's just a little flaky from time to time, you know?

SPEAKER_2 (8:21)

Is it the big one or the mini one?

Gerald Auger (8:23)

No, it's the mini one. I bought another mini one to put right next to it. It's just I haven't flashed the profile over to it, which will be today's activity.

SPEAKER_2 (8:33)

All right. Well, hey, we're only 10 minutes late, so we're good.

Gerald Auger (8:37)

No, I know. Hey, guys, like, casually late. We'll just pretend that, like, oh, hey, our last threat briefing ran over. So, you know, we just got to come in here a little late.

SPEAKER_2 (8:46)

It was a late night. It was a late night.

Gerald Auger (8:48)

Yeah, it was. I'm just getting the show set up now. So just give me a hot second.

Thank you, DJ B-Sec. And I also want to say shout out to James O'Quiggin at 35,000 feet. He is also in the green room doing what he does.

SPEAKER_2 (9:03)

I see him. I was like, I wonder if I still have rights to this. Let me pop on and see if I can help him.

Gerald Auger (9:09)

Yeah, do you? Okay, so we're going to do it.

Sick shirt. Thanks, yeah. Joe Hudson, if you've ever been to Wild West HackinFest, he's got a special song that he makes just for them. And it's a good one. So hey, we're at Daily Cyber Threat Brief. I'm just getting my rig set up here, which is great. DJ B-Sec has joined me on stage just to kind of help sort it out.

And yeah, we're working through it.

SPEAKER_2 (9:36)

We're just in a holding pattern of silence while we watch Jerry run around his room.

Gerald Auger (9:44)

I know, I know, bro. You know, it is what it is. You know, these things happen from time to time.

SPEAKER_2 (9:50)

BCP, man, BCP.

Gerald Auger (9:52)

It is really BCP.

SPEAKER_2 (9:53)

All right.

Gerald Auger (9:54)

I'm almost there.

Pulled. All right. What's going on in the chat, DJ B-Sec? You see anything interesting in there? People talk to people chatting.

SPEAKER_2 (10:07)

I wasn't. I was popping in and out of there real fast. I hadn't been paying attention to what was going on in chat other than me popping in and hoping I wouldn't have an audio issues because I'm just on a laptop running around.

Yeah.

Gerald Auger (10:20)

No, we're going to make it happen here today. I do want to tell everyone, DJ B-Sec, I actually made a video that is kind of low key going viral right now. The one on YouTube and it's basically a day in the life. But most people talk about a day in the life and it's like the junior analysts. They never really talk about the mid and senior tiers and what the transition is on that.

So what are your thoughts about that while we're continuing to get stood up here?

SPEAKER_2 (10:51)

I have not, so I haven't seen it. I didn't see that it dropped. But yeah, there's a big difference in between starting, mid and senior, right? Because I would say probably the mid role is probably the most excruciating. I mean, that'd be my, because you're doing everything day to day, right? Once you get into the upper tier, you're usually trying to only handle the higher level issues.

Maybe you're moving more into executive roles or into director roles where you're dealing with outside vendors and roadmaps for the company and things. So I need to go check it out. Because I did see it drop. I saw Jerry walking around in the forest talking to everybody. All right.
