Good morning, everybody. Today is October 15th, and you're going to hang out with me and the rest of the chat, the Simply Cyber crew while we check out the Daily Cyber Threat Brief.
Today, I will be filling in for the one and only Dr. Gerald Auger.
Let's go ahead and get into it.
Today, it's me.
Jerry said somebody else was going to be doing today, and I got the call, said, hey, can you jump on? So today is me.
Let's get into it. I think we've got eight stories, and I actually have a ninth because CSO series missed a big one that happened overnight or happened later yesterday. I don't want to make sure we get to two because it's one that everybody needs to pay attention to.
So let's run through everything real quick. And then let's get into today's news. Hopefully everybody is doing good. We've got over the hump of the week. Where are we at? Let me pull up chat so I could see what we got going on. See who all is in here. I saw earlier, I saw Jesse came in here. I saw Marcus was saying that Jesse had to be the one that was going to be hosted because Jesse doesn't usually get up this early. It's kind of funny. Let's see. I see AdTech in here. Oh, well. Oh, I see Nightbot. Nightbot always likes to make a little appearance every now and again. Here's Nightbot. CodeBrew, is he CodeBrew in here? Who else? Phil Stafford. I saw him pop in earlier and say something. Yep. Jordan R. Yes, we're going to have one bonus news story, which I swore CISO would have this on here because they have another one just like it, but they didn't put this one on here. All right. Everybody, if you've never been here before, this is the Daily Cyber Threat Brief. And one thing we'd like to let you know is if you come every single day, guess what you get to put down is that you get half a CPE. So every single day that you come, you get half a CPE. That works out about two and a half a week, roughly 10 a month or close to 120 if you show up every single day.
So, let me put this, let me pull this up in here. If you go to the, let me make sure I say this correctly, cyberthreatbrief.simplycyber.io/cpe.
If you go to that, you're going to get this screen pop up. What you want to do, go in, fill this out. Now, talked about this last time, Jerry talks about it. This is self attestation. What that means is, you are putting in your information saying that you signed up. What Jerry is doing on the back end, is if you go and do this every single day, you go and put your name, your email address, saying that, yes, I did watch this, and check all the boxes and save it. Every single day that puts it into a nice little back end for Jerry and into a database. And at the end of the month, everything gets wrapped up. And then Jerry pops out some emails at the beginning of each month. So November 1st through about the 5th, he'll send out emails to everybody. You'll get a PDF file. That PDF file will say, it'll have your first name, your last name on there and say that you attended. And it'll have every single day that you said that you attended. You can then take that and take it to your governing body for your certifications and say, here you go, I had X amount of CPEs for the month of July, August, September, whatever. That way you can get your CPE credit. So coming every single morning, listening to Jerry screaming, yell and get crazy on coffee, get crank coffee and go nuts, or myself or Jesse Johnson or James McQuiggan or Daniel, whoever you come in, you listen to us. We go through the news for about an hour. The reason we say it's half a CPE is because we talk like this, just normal talk. We have, we cut some stuff up in the middle. But we say you're at least getting 30 minutes of value, if not more.
So you'll get a half a CPE. So do that and you'll be good to go as a, it'd be good to go for all your certifications. Ooh, we're all got my throat.
What was this? Sorry. Don't know what that is. I just saw chat pop up and I saw somebody say, sorry, DJ B-Sick. I don't know why, why is somebody sorry? All right. So also what we do here, we do a lot of stuff and Jerry does a lot of things for the community. But to do that, we got to pay some bills because bills come in. So to do that, we're going to run through a couple of these reads. And you know what I'm going to do? I'm going to do all the reads at the beginning. That way, because we actually have, today is Thursday. If you don't know, and this is the first time you've been here, every single day we have a segment that Jerry pulls up. Monday we got a segment. But today is meme of the week. And Jerry sent me this big, long, not email, but a big, long thing on Discord about explaining about the meme of the week this week that Dan created, which is hilarious. So I'm going to try and do it justice and go through and try to tell the story. But to do that, I need to make sure that we don't have any news because it's going to be funny. But we'll see that at the mid roll. Let's go ahead and jump in and do these sponsor reads real quick. All right, first off, we've got ThreatLocker. Everybody, ThreatLocker, go to threatlocker.com. There's no, oh, let me get rid of this. All right. You can go to threatlocker.com, book a demo. Look, threatlocker.com, get tongue tied here, combines Privilege Access, Zero Trust, Zero Trust Networking, let's see, SaaS applications, so secure broker for SaaS applications, like a CASB, everything follows, using ThreatLocker, everything follows one powerful principle, and that is deny everything by default, right? Everybody, you have ThreatLocker on your system, if you're running an enterprise system and you have ThreatLocker, it allows you as the system's admin, it allows you as the IT or the security people to know what's running on your systems or what's running on your employee systems at all times, and making sure that they're not clicking on something and it pops up and automatically runs, right? So ThreatLocker, it's an amazing product. If you want to find out more about ThreatLocker, go to threatlocker.com, book a demo, request information, and oh, they also have their own, they've got their own conference out in Orlando. Or you can go have fun out in Orlando. I think it's Zero Trust, the Zero Trust Conference, great conference, Jerry's always there. I know James goes there. So that's a big conference as well.
