Execs around the league are wondering whether the Arizona Cardinals could explore trading Marvin Harrison Jr. ahead of the NFL trade deadline. Harrison, the number four pick in the 2024 draft, but only has one catch thus far this season. Here's Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur with some interesting comments on getting Marvin more involved in the passing game.

It's a great question because I know it's like well, just get some easy completions to get going and that's fine.
You also have Trey McBride who's one of the best underneath guys in the world and there's only about 60 to 65 plays a game and you got to run the ball and you got Kendrick who works underneath pretty well too. So everyone's kind of got their role right there. Doesn't mean that we won't this week if we think that's what's best in terms of working them underneath. But that's not what we thought it was best through the first two weeks.
Chad Johnson (0:58)
I don't like that. I don't like that.
Especially from a player, Uncle Joe, that went high as Marvin Harrison did. But basically what you're telling me is, is he's not a value, he's not an asset. There are other players right now being that Marvin Harrison Jr isn't playing with much confidence. He's mentioned other players that can do the same thing that Marvin Harrison should be in position to do. Being the number four pick, he should be the one, the focal point of those passes, of those plays, especially being in his, what, third year, right? Third year.
Yeah, this is your make it a break of year. At this point, you should be the focal point of your offense. Matter of fact, as the fourth pick in the draft, you should be better than Trey McBride. Even as good as Trey McBride is, based on you going that high.
I just, I don't like the way coach answered that. Not like at all. And right now, based on what I've seen from Marvin Harrison Jr., his body language is not there.
One catch in two games. Man. That makes absolutely no sense, but I kind of get it. Why it is the way it is. He just hadn't looked like himself since in the league. Yeah. He just, he hadn't looked like himself at all, Joe. I don't know what's going on.
Joe Johnson (2:12)
I don't like how coach, how the floor said that, you know, he put it on McBride, like, bro, it's how many positions he said? Like 60, 70, like you mean to tell me four, five targets can't go to, man. Come on, man. Come on, man.
I don't know, I'll go with Joe. I don't know how they getting more involved. You know, I don't know if it's the weight gain of Marvin Harrison, but I thought he was a hell of a talent coming out of Ohio State.
Chad Johnson (2:40)
He was.
Joe Johnson (2:41)
To see him at this stage, at this point in his career, two games in, he ain't got but one catch.
Chad Johnson (2:47)
That's crazy. And they say, oh, that's what, if you want to get a play of the ball, Joe, they can scheme you open. They can create plays for you just to get you touches.
Joe Johnson (2:57)
I agree.
Chad Johnson (2:58)
Every team could do that. They just don't want to.
Joe Johnson (3:01)
Look, why wouldn't they want to?
Shannon Sharpe (3:04)
I think the thing is, guys, is that he went there and Trey McBride caught fire. All pro season, he's the best tight end in football. So, but damn, and then he's like, okay, yeah, okay, I'll be number two. Boom, Michael Wilson catch fire. Now guess what, Ochocinco, you third. So you the fourth pick of the draft. You go from going to be, thinking you're going to be number one. Not only you're not number one, you're not number two. And then this man, I think Kendrick, he said, born. Kendrick born.
He's like a junior, probably say, hold on now, come on now. Come on now.
That's tough. It is.
It is. And senior was critical of the office. Like, bro, he doesn't want to say too much because he is Marvin Harrison Sr. And in everything you'll say, well, and remember, remember when a family member or a loved one speaks publicly, they automatically assume it came from the little one.
Joe Johnson (4:11)
Yeah. Yeah.
Shannon Sharpe (4:15)
It can dig. I can't speak for myself. Yeah, you can. But you speaking for him. He done told you something. She done told you something. That's why, you know, you have to be mindful of what you say publicly, because everybody is going to deduce. If I had said something publicly, oh, Sterling told him that. If he said something publicly, Shannon told him that. So, I just, he's in a very, very, very tough situation, because like you said, Ochocinco, he was viewed as a can't miss prospect.
