A very special running, Auburn senior running back, Jeremiah Cobb joins us. 13 carries, 61 yards. You guys go into Athens. That is the number one team in the country. And you pull off the upset. How are you guys able to stay focused, stay calm, falling behind 14-nothing on the road against the number one team in the country?
Jeremiah Cobb (0:20)
I mean, definitely just, I mean, not paying attention to the score. I mean, doing what we need to do, staying detailed and just doing what we do every day at practice and listening to the coaches and trusting what they got. So that's just how we did. And I'm glad them boys went out there and capitalized. So yeah.
Shannon Sharpe (0:38)
Look, we know, look, if things hadn't gone the way you guys were, you're four and two, and you're looking at this, the number one team in the country, we're on the road.
It seems like now all of a sudden, you guys have played so well, you got, I mean, you fall behind, and now all of a sudden you score 24 unanswered. And y'all gotta be feeling good. We on the road, the number one team in the country, we're up 10, and all of a sudden, they get back in the ball game, you have an opportunity to take the lead, you have to punt the ball, and they're driving. You see Stockton running to the back of the line and fumbling the ball. What goes through your mind, now all of a sudden, what goes through your mind?
Jeremiah Cobb (1:14)
Oh, it went through my mind. I was like, oh, we gotta win this now. Ain't no turning back. Like, you gotta do it now.
So, we went out there, did what we need to do, and my boy Alex McPherson finished it off. He's a great kicker, and he deserves that. So.
Shannon Sharpe (1:31)
Hey, what was the morale like around the team throughout the week, bro, preparing for this game? Like, I'm sure y'all pretty much had the confidence that y'all was gonna win, but what was the morale like?
Jeremiah Cobb (1:42)
I mean, the morale wasn't too down.
I mean, the only part that really been bothering us is that we've been beating ourselves in these closed games, and we knew that. So, I mean, the confidence was always there. We finally just put all the pieces together and really showed people what a team we kind of are. So.
Chad Johnson (1:59)
Right.
Yeah. When you play a game like that against a number one opponent like Georgia, you're able to win the way you have, even though you were down early. You think about the close game that you guys lost, obviously the Florida and the Tennessee. And you got another big one coming up this week. It is never, I mean, for y'all, when you look at your schedule every week, you can't take a week off. Now you got LSU. How you feel? I'm sure you haven't been able to watch film yet, but you're going to take this day, enjoy today's win. How you feel about this upcoming week against LSU?
Jeremiah Cobb (2:28)
I'm very excited.
One of the linebackers, I played with him since I was in Pee Wee Ball, man. My boy TJ Daugherty and I'm excited about that. Finally get to play each other. So that's going to be fun. Then we finally get to go out there and bring the crowd and show them what we can do. It's going to be fun. It's going to be real fun.
Shannon Sharpe (2:48)
Hey man, where are the toilet paper at? What Tumor's Corner looking like?
Jeremiah Cobb (2:51)
Man, I was trying to get you all here, but we were just down there. That place rocking, man. That place rocking, man.
Shannon Sharpe (2:57)
Yeah. Hey, I know they excited at the toilet paper, everything. That's got to be a beautiful sight, knowing that we went on the road, the number one team in the country. This is the back to back week. The number one team in the country has gone down, but you guys win it. And I don't think anybody outside of that locker room and maybe the Auburn fans thought you guys had a chance to go on the road and do after being an 18 and a half point underdog and to go down there. So what was coach message going into this week? And what was his message at halftime?
Jeremiah Cobb (3:29)
Definitely just not listen to any of the media.
Pay attention to that. That's just all rat poison as they say. And go and do what we need to do, be detailed. And just put our head down and work. So that's what coach was telling us.
