It's October 8th, all right. So the New York Rangers just wrapped up their first five games of the season, and it's been pretty impressive. They've got a four-and-one record, which has fans feeling optimistic after a rough last season. Clearly, they're looking to make a statement. Then there's the fact that they brought in new faces over the summer, and those guys have gelled quickly. After stumbling in the season opener against the Boston Bruins, where they lost zero to three, they bounced back strong. You can excuse that first game, especially with the short camp in preseason. Also, since that loss, the Rangers went on a winning streak. They crushed the Tampa Bay Lightning at home, shut out the Detroit Red Wings in a tough road game, and added wins against the Utah Mammoth and New York Islanders. A perfect 3-0 at home is definitely something to celebrate. On the individual front, key players like Adam Fox, Alexis Lafrenier and Mika Zibanejad are all averaging a point per game. That kind of balance is crucial, and with nine players finding the net already, the offensive depth looks solid.

Oliver Bjorkstrand and Ili Tolvinen stepping up with multiple goals makes a big difference too. So yeah, it's still early, but this team has answered some big questions about their potential. Sustaining this level of play is going to be key, but right now, they've earned a solid A-grade for their start.

Exciting times ahead for Rangers fans.
