The day's biggest stories, the people behind the headlines, the conversations you won't hear anywhere else. I'm Christy Strawser, you're listening to Audacy's On Deadline. OJ. Simpson is dead, but our fascination with him lives on.
The New York Times printed a story recently, which they said was based on recently unsealed court files, interviews and other evidence that detailed long hidden information about the missing murder weapon, Simpson's supposed efforts to cover up the crime, as well as the possibility of an accomplice. That's right, evidence he didn't act alone on the night Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman were brutally slashed to death. Here's Chad Hartman in Minneapolis.

So, The New York Times has a story over the weekend about a guy named Joey Ippolito, who informant, raised in the mob, underworld of Jersey, in and out of the clink, goes to LA and becomes friends with AC, Al Cowling's best of pals with OJ. Simpson. Joey Ippolito is now dead, but his brother is talking. And some are saying his brother is talking because of his legal issues. And he is saying that his brother, on June 12th, 1994, left the apartment to help out a friend. And the informant says that friend is, guess who? Orenthal James Simpson. Yep. Helps him get rid of the knife and other things when the Bronco chase took place. Found things in there, including related to Joey Ippolito. Again, because AC and Ippolito were friends. There was contact late in the trial, Ippolito and authorities reaching out. Marsha Clark is quoted in the story saying, I know nothing about this. No, nothing about it. Because we've always wondered, where'd the bloody clothes go? There's more on here, but we also have some comments from Tom Lang, one of the main individuals, one of the main detectives in the case, because New York Times, it's a long story. It's a long story. Ippolito, his criminality, his brother speaking up, his criminality are perpetual curiosity with the case. I can give you a bunch more details, but I want to get to other parts of it. So could this be something significant? Tom Lang is still with us. I don't think Van Adder is. A lot of people aren't with us anymore. Obviously, guess what? OJ not with us. Now, OJ did write a book. Think about a crazy one. Remember the title of the book? If I Did It. Yeah, if you were heavily, heavily, heavily suspected of killing two people, including your ex-wife, by the way, he did it.
Zero to 100 How commits are you that OJ did it? A thousand? Yeah, he did it.
It was about a lot of other things with the not guilty, including the horrible mistreatment by many people of color by the LAPD, and this was a payback.
This was also a brilliant attorney versus two other attorneys who were over their head, an idiotic decision to put the gloves on.
OJ did it. In the If I Did It book, he talks about somebody with him. Was that Joey? This book suggests it's this other guy named Charlie because he was friends with the guy Charlie, but a lot of folks are not around. Tom Lang is still here.
TMZ reached out to him, and I sent you that audio. Here's a little bit of Tom Lang on the latest revelation on, was Joey the one who was with the Jews and got rid of the incriminating evidence?
Tom Lang (4:00)
The central figure in the story now has been dead for a number of years.
His brother came out with a lot of information that's been questioned. His credibility is been questioned. It makes for an interesting story. As far as evidence goes, there's nothing really there.

Somebody cleaned up for OJ. Simpson. He left too quickly. He could not have disposed of that knife, his clothing and whatever other evidence there was.
Tom Lang (4:26)
As far as the knife goes, that's what you're talking about. We actually have a witness at the airport that saw Simpson probably within 45 minutes after the murders, before the bodies had been even discovered at the airport, getting on a flight to go to Chicago, standing by the left side of the entrance of the airport, the American Airlines, with a little tote bag on top of the container, taking items out of the container, shoving them down into the trash container, and zipping it up, picking up and walking back into the airport.
SPEAKER_4 (4:57)
I remember that well, but that guy didn't see what was taken out of the bag.
Lisa Fielding (5:02)
But I get your point.
