The US government is supposed to hold about 328,000 Bitcoin. And in the executive order that created the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve, they said they would never sell their Bitcoin. But we have some interesting data showing that yesterday, they were moving thousands of Bitcoin to Coinbase yesterday. And it was basically at the exact same time that we saw Bitcoin crash from 64K to $61,000. All I'm saying, guys, is the timing of all of this is certainly coincidental at the very least. So let's dive into this because there is a lot to unpack here. This was first posted from what I could tell on Arkham. Arkham Intelligence, if you don't know, it's on-chain analytics, checking everything that's going on on-chain. They're tracking wallets. I wouldn't say it's necessarily like chain analysis, but there are some addresses that we do know that are linked to various entities. And obviously, if you know anything about the Bitcoin network, you can track along what these addresses are doing, who these people are and where they're sending their coin and what exactly is going on. So here's the first one. This one might be maybe the most interesting for a lot of you guys that have been watching the show with us, following along on all the news. If you are very vocal and active in the quote Bitcoin community on Twitter, here's the first post. Arkham, the US government just moved $8.8 million of Bitcoin to Coinbase Prime. The Coinbase Prime deposited that received this Bitcoin one hour ago, again, one hour ago, chiming 1:35 p.m. yesterday, also received, seized Bitcoin from the founders of Samurai Wallet in the past. So is the US government selling the Bitcoin? That is the big kind of contention. Sonny also, if you follow Sonny, he also does on-chain metrics. He reported pretty much the same thing. A 926 Bitcoin transaction from the US government to Coinbase Prime and unknown entities have been broadcasted to block 957,889.
And then we saw Galaxy Research later on in the day. This was at 230 Basically say US government spent 2,874.9 Bitcoin or around $183.28 million moved to Coinbase Prime in blocks 957,893 and 957,894. They dropped the mempools.space in the transactions. And then Alex Thorne of Galaxy Research followed it up with almost 4,000 Bitcoins sent today so far by the US government to Coinbase Prime.
So, all we know for certain, this is all we know for a fact here, is that 4,000 Bitcoin associated with the US government was moved to Coinbase Prime. Now, we did see some interesting stuff go on with the price, and maybe I'll go into that in a little bit. But let's go into... Actually, they also moved some shit coins. So, a total of $280 million of crypto moved to Coinbase Prime. Some Bitcoin, some ETH, et cetera, et cetera. So, what exactly is going on, right? Well, Yahoo did an article on this, and there was one thing that did stick out to me in this article that I think maybe I had forgotten, and most of us have forgotten. Here's the headline, of course, the US government moved 8.8 million of Bitcoin that Trump said would never sell. Obviously, this was reported earlier, later on the day we learned they moved what? What was it? About 200 million Bitcoin.
So, a lot of Bitcoin is moving to Coinbase Prime. Now, obviously, we all know what did Trump say with the executive order to create the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve? Hey, we are never going to sell the Bitcoin. We have been watching what's going on with the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve. From what we can all tell, again, we haven't been able to audit these reserves, but from what everyone can tell, the US government holds about, and let me get the exact number here, 328,372 Bitcoin, roughly around $20 billion of Bitcoin. And of course, they say they are never going to sell that Bitcoin. And most of this Bitcoin was acquired through asset forfeitures. It was actually interesting. The big movements of this coin were actually from someone that I believe was like, how, wait, how far am I? Someone that was believed, or rather, that got in trouble for selling Xanax on a dark market, and another one for laundering money for a cartel or something like that. So these guys aren't, in fact, at least the coin that was attributed to this move, at least the majority of that coin, it's not, you know, they're criminals. So obviously the US government's gonna take that Bitcoin. But the point remains the same. We don't know for a fact how much Bitcoin the US government does hold. I mean, from all the on-chain metrics, we can kind of get an idea of how much Bitcoin they hold. But again, unaudited Bitcoin holdings around 328,000 Bitcoin. Now we all know at least the official narrative is all the Bitcoins coming in, it's not gonna get sold. Though we have heard a couple of stories recently, in particular, from the US Marshals of them messing up the custody of the Bitcoin and some of that Bitcoin and shitcoins are actually being sold because they weren't able to actually custody the coin correctly, which does kind of go back around before I extend a little more on this article, which really does go full circle on the actual latest news we heard about the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve, which was they still plan to move on on the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve, potentially buy some more Bitcoin. But there's a war right now between the US Treasury and the Commerce Department. They are infighting on who actually can control the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve, who is legally allowed to not only hold that Bitcoin or custody of that Bitcoin, but also add to the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve. But all we do know for a fact that the only budget neutral way that the government, the US government here, has been able to add to the Bitcoin, has been through assets forfeiture.
