That was so good.
Kara Goucher (0:20)
I think that you're like a hockey announcer right there.
Des Linden (0:22)
Yeah. I could do like the intro.
Kara Goucher (0:24)
Yeah, that was good.
Des Linden (0:26)
I'm playing the home team. People are like, my fucking ears. Please stop. I gotta say, Kara, you are looking bright and healthy and just, I don't know, something's up. You look fresh.
Kara Goucher (0:42)
Do I look-
Des Linden (0:43)
You don't have to talk about it?
Kara Goucher (0:45)
Oh no, I'll talk about it.
Des Linden (0:46)
Okay.
Kara Goucher (0:46)
Because I'm not ashamed. Listen. Okay.
Des Linden (0:50)

Here we go. So my face, I still am not like, can't wear any makeup or anything because that would just hurt thinking about it. So this is fresh. So, you know, I feel like you just don't give a shit about this kind of stuff. And I wish I was more like that, but I do feel a lot of pressure to get Botox and stuff. And hey, if you do that, I do not begrudge you. I think people should do what they want to do.
But I do get comments and stuff when I'm working at times, but I just don't want to do it because I want to be like, it's okay to age, it's okay if I look 48 Turns out I am 48 But I still want to look as good as possible. So anyway, this has been like an ongoing situation for myself for about four years now. And my dermatologist is like, hey, we have this new laser. It basically like does the same thing as Botox, but it's natural.
Okay.
Des Linden (1:46)
Go on. Natural.
Kara Goucher (1:49)
The natural laser. That's a laser. So right after we recorded last Monday, went to my dermatologist, got this numbing cream on my face. It sat there for an hour. I couldn't even feel my lips. I was like, this is going to be amazing. I'm not going to feel anything.
Oh my God. Oh my God. It hurts so bad.
There were tears coming out of my protective goggles. And like 20 minutes in, my legs just started flailing. Like I couldn't control it. It hurt so bad. They were holding a fan on my face because they're literally burning your face. And anyway, I basically was a vampire this past week. I didn't go outside at all except for to Colt's race. And I was showing you photos. I actually for the YouTube. You don't have to shoot.
Des Linden (2:32)
No, YouTube's. You get the photo.
Kara Goucher (2:34)

Kara Goucher (2:38)
I did go to my weightlifting class. This is on Wednesday.
Des Linden (2:41)
I feel like your expression is part of what's going on here. I'm just like, fuck my life photo.
Kara Goucher (2:48)
I legitimately am okay with how I look. Why did I do this? But my dermatologist says that in like a month, I'm going to be really happy I did it. And anyway, I'm not looking for sympathy because I chose to do this. Not only did I choose to do this, I paid money to have my face burn.
Des Linden (3:07)
Well, it's natural. It's the natural thing to do.
Kara Goucher (3:10)
It's the natural way. So yeah, essentially, like they burn your face and then your skin naturally, supposedly, reproduces. It's like a snake. It forces it to produce collagen and this and that, supposedly.
So like maybe, like it takes four to six weeks to start to see the benefit. So maybe I'll see you in December and you're going to be like, dude, your face looks awesome.
Des Linden (3:36)
We're just going to take screenshots every week and then line them up because you couldn't tell right now.
Kara Goucher (3:43)
It's so red still. So all the scabs, most of the scabs have fallen off. There's still some on my neck and on my nose.
Oh, Adam is like so grossed out. So my pillowcase is like covered in scabs.
Des Linden (3:56)
Oh God.
Kara Goucher (3:57)
It's been so bad.
Des Linden (3:59)
His dog is in there and eats it.
Kara Goucher (4:03)
I just have to laugh because I'm like, you know, the one other time that I did something like this, I don't know if I've ever told you this story, but all of the women I was training with were getting eyelashes, like eyelash extensions, and everyone looks so good. Like we'd be out running and everyone would look like super models. And I'm like, you know what? I don't buy a lot of makeup. I don't like, I don't really buy stuff for myself. I'm going to get eyelashes put on. So I get a recommendation. I go, I have the appointment. It's like $300.
