Hello, we're here for More Happier, a podcast where we get happier. It's the weekend. It's the same observations and reflections, but with a looser vibe. Hey, Elizabeth.

Elizabeth Craft (0:21)

Hi, Gretch.

Gretchen Rubin (0:22)

Today, we'll talk about an item that I finally and very happily crossed off my 26 for 26 list, and I have a possible insight into a comment that Elizabeth's son, Jack, made about more effective communication.

But first, something making us happier. Elizabeth, what is something making you happier?

Elizabeth Craft (0:44)

Well, Gretch, I am in the midst of planning a dinner party, and it's four friends who are moving to Florida. So it's a dinner party group that we have. It just so happens they're moving to Florida. So I'm going to gear it toward them moving to Florida.

And so I'm really embracing the theme of Florida in the form of flamingos, because I associate flamingos with Florida. But what's making me happier is just really getting into it. I know I have so much onks around entertaining. I want to do it more, but I have anxiety about it and I dread it. So I'm really just trying to throw myself into it and think about it in a fun way. Like how is this going to be fun as opposed to just dreading it?

Gretchen Rubin (1:33)

What parts of it are fun and what parts are not fun?

Elizabeth Craft (1:35)

Well, I've made up, I haven't sent it out yet, but I've made up a paperless post invitation that's got a Florida flamingo theme, which I think is very fun.

Gretchen Rubin (1:45)

Can I look at it?

Elizabeth Craft (1:46)

Oh, yes. Let me send it to you.

Gretchen Rubin (1:48)

Okay. Send it to me on my phone and I'll look at it. Okay.

Elizabeth Craft (1:51)

Okay. Did you get it?

Gretchen Rubin (1:53)

Yes. Where did that come from? That's very retro Miami vibes.

Elizabeth Craft (1:58)

Yeah. Side bonus hack. You can just go to paperless post or wherever you make your online invites and put in what you're looking for. So I put in Florida theme dinner party, I think, or something like that. And so a bunch of stuff came up and that's what I picked.

Gretchen Rubin (2:13)

It looks so stylish and you picked the words and the font and everything. It looks so good.

Elizabeth Craft (2:18)

Thank you.

Gretchen Rubin (2:18)

Wait, can I just say that reminds me that on my 26 for 26 list is learn to use paperless post and I still haven't done it, but here you are, you're paperless posting it up.

Elizabeth Craft (2:28)

I do enjoy a paperless post. It goes with my thing that if you send an invitation, even a digital invitation, it makes something just feel more official. And then I'm going to get key lime pie for dessert.

Gretchen Rubin (2:40)

Fun.

Elizabeth Craft (2:41)

And then I happen to have these pink and green candlesticks that I've been wanting to use. So I'm going to try to do a pink and green table. We'll see how that goes. I'm not sure. You know, I'm working on it.

Gretchen Rubin (2:54)

That's so fun. This just is a side note. Some places are nice because they have a theme that Florida, you can make it look Florida. Texas, you can make it look Texas. New York, you can make it look New York. California, you can make it look California. Missouri?

Elizabeth Craft (3:07)

Missouri is tough.

Gretchen Rubin (3:09)

Missouri is tough. We've got the art. Missouri would be tough. Yeah. So it's good that they're moving to some place that's got a theme. Really strong. Yeah.

Elizabeth Craft (3:17)

So it should be fun.

Gretchen Rubin (3:18)

Now, what about a drink? Is there a Florida beverage?

Elizabeth Craft (3:22)

Well, there are a lot of Florida beverages. One thing I'm thinking about is a mojito. Oh, although here's what I find. One, I'm not a good bartender.

Gretchen Rubin (3:31)

Yeah.

Elizabeth Craft (3:32)

And most people just want to drink what they want to drink. They don't want a theme drink.

Gretchen Rubin (3:36)

Well, you know, our mother has that theory, which is a lot of times when you have a party, they're like, oh, and let's have a signature drink. And her view is people drink what they want to drink and they have their drink. It seems a lot more fun than it is.

Elizabeth Craft (3:49)

So I probably won't do a drink. Cause also I find when I try to make drinks, I tried to make Cosmos Gretch for my Sex and the City party.
