Hello, we are here for More Happier, a podcast where we talk about how to get happier.

It's the weekend, it's a looser vibe. Hey, Elizabeth.

Elizabeth Craft (1:19)

Hi, Gretchen.

Gretchen Rubin (1:20)

Today, we'll talk about something strange I experienced on the streets of New York City, and I have a question about GLP-1s for Elizabeth. But first, Something Making Us Happier. Elizabeth, what is Something Making You Happier?

Elizabeth Craft (1:35)

Okay, Gretchen, it is finally happening that I am going away for a couple of days with two of my best friends from high school.

Gretchen Rubin (1:44)

So fun.

Elizabeth Craft (1:45)

Yes.

Gretchen Rubin (1:46)

You love a girls trip.

Elizabeth Craft (1:47)

I do. And I had on my 26 for 26 list go on two girls trips, I believe.

Gretchen Rubin (1:54)

Okay.

Elizabeth Craft (1:54)

And I haven't gone on any yet, but now I will have. And this came about, one of my friends, we had been talking literally for three years about trying to go on this trip.

Gretchen Rubin (2:07)

I believe it. It can just, it's the scheduling.

Elizabeth Craft (2:10)

Yes. And just, yeah, the motivation, the scheduling, everything coming together.

And she has a place in Arizona, so we can stay with her, which is nice. So she texted and was like, oh, so-and-so's coming. Do you want to come too? This is the dates. Yeah. And I texted back, maybe let me look at the calendar. Cause you know, someone hits you with something like that. And you're just immediately like, I can't possibly do that.

Gretchen Rubin (2:38)

Sure.

Elizabeth Craft (2:38)

Right. But I said, let me really think about this. And then I just, I could not come up with a good reason not to do it. It's very easy to fly from LA to Phoenix.

Gretchen Rubin (2:49)

That's true. Right.

Elizabeth Craft (2:51)

Yeah. Really one of the easiest places for me to go is Phoenix. I can go from Burbank, which is much easier than leaving from LAX and cheaper.

And I texted Sarah and said, how would you feel about me being gone for these three days? She's like, of course you should. And so the stars aligned and I said, yes, I got a ticket that night.

Gretchen Rubin (3:15)

Oh, wow.

Elizabeth Craft (3:16)

Okay. Eleven o'clock at night. I was just like, I'm just going to buy this ticket.

Gretchen Rubin (3:20)

Then the decision fatigue, the should I or should not, you're just like, how do I make this as easy as possible?

Elizabeth Craft (3:26)

Yeah. And then I'm like, I need, I should do this while I'm in the throes of excitement about it, rather than waking up the next day and being like, well, should I go? It's probably not a good idea. You start talking yourself out of things.

Gretchen Rubin (3:39)

Right.

Elizabeth Craft (3:39)

So I'm so happy.

It also happens to coincide with Jack's class trip, so I'm not even missing any drop-offs or pickups or anything like that. So it's actually perfect timing.

Gretchen Rubin (3:51)

Can I make a couple observations?

Elizabeth Craft (3:53)

Yes.

Gretchen Rubin (3:53)

One thing is, I do think that sometimes it's easier when somebody says, this is happening in this way at this time, come if you can.

Elizabeth Craft (4:01)

Yes.

Gretchen Rubin (4:01)

Rather than let's make a plan.

Elizabeth Craft (4:03)

Yes.

Gretchen Rubin (4:03)

Because let's make a plan. There's just so many variables. But this was nice because this is our plan, which we've already negotiated.

For you, it was yes, no. Yes. Would the next week be easier? Well, then you'd be like, well, this week is when Jack's away, but then the next week I'd have a little bit more time. Then it's blah, blah, blah. But scheduling is life.
