And what better way to survive the heat wave than to hang out with us right here on The Mighty Nine-Nine. Hello, everybody, I'm Todd Starnes. Good Tuesday morning to you. Good Wednesday morning. What day is it? Is it Wednesday? It is Wednesday. Good Wednesday morning to you. I'm halfway through my first cup of coffee, folks, so bear with me until my brain kicks into high gear. Look, Laura Huggabee says it's going to be hotter than blue blazes. That is an official meteorological term. She'll be along here in just a few moments with an updated forecast. Also, Commander Chuck taking a look at the roadways and those massive construction zones. They're on I-240 as well as 55 and I-40, so a lot going on out there. By the way, if you haven't been to our social media pages, that insane big rig accident, Amazon delivery truck apparently blew a tire. The driver lost control, went into the opposite lanes of traffic. All of this happening on Interstate 40 eastbound between Memphis and Jackson yesterday. And one fatality, the driver of the truck, they were not able to rescue him. But a lot of people got hurt. But the good news is there were not multiple fatalities. Certainly, we feel for the poor guy in the truck. But we've got the video of that over on our KWAM social media pages. Would be happy for you to check that out.
Our telephone number, if you want to call in and weigh in today, 901-260-5926 is again our telephone number. That's 901-260-5926.
Let me tell you what's happening this morning. You're going to have a chance to win a pair of tickets courtesy Alabama at Live At The Garden courtesy of KWAM. It's going to be a lot of fun. We'll have some trivia coming up, and you'll have an opportunity in really just a matter of minutes to win that first pair. We have two pair of tickets we're giving away. And also, we're giving away a copy of my brand new book. It's called The Golden Age, How Trump Saved America. So stick around for that. Again, your opportunity to win some great tickets and enjoy a great concert. I'll just tell you, nobody does it like Live At The Garden. They just have a wonderful concert series.
Every person I've talked to has been, they have not been disappointed. So be sure to stick around for that. Also, Adam Martin, our official KWAM financial advisor is going to drop by a little bit later on, answering your financial questions. So if you've got a question about retirement or money, what to do with your money, Adam will answer those questions free of charge on the radio. That's coming up in just a little while. You know, it's interesting.
John Thune yesterday was the Senate Majority Leader, was on Fox, and he was confirming something that has concerned me. And one of the big challenges as we look towards the midterm elections, there just seems to be some lethargy within the Republican side of the aisle. And it's beginning to look like this is all intentional. So the Majority Leader on Fox News yesterday, as well as Senator John Kennedy from Louisiana, and they're both confirming that the Senate will not be helping Ken Paxton defeat James Talafrico. Now, this is a major Senate race in Texas, but it impacts all of us because the way this is shaping up, there could be a chance for the Democrats to actually get control of the Senate and possibly the House of Representatives.
That's how lethargic Republicans are right now. But what I find fascinating about this Ken Paxton story, and we talked about this on the national radio show yesterday at 11 o'clock right here on The Mighty 990
One of the big concerns is that the Senate Republicans actually spent $100 million for John Cornyn to try and beat Ken Paxton in the primary, and now all of a sudden, they say they got no money, and they're not going to be helping Ken Paxton. So both Kennedy and Thune say, if Ken Paxton needs money, he's going to have to ask President Trump. I am telling you that there are establishment Republicans, and I know these guys are... Some of you say, well, Todd, all of these guys are really pro-Trump. No, they're not. Do not be deceived. They are not pro-Trump. Many of them are closet never Trumpers. They may get out in front of the cameras and smile and say, make America great again, but they are not pro-Trump. And this is their opportunity to take back the Republican Party. They know after the midterms, Trump is pretty much a de facto lame duck president at that point, and they're going to do what they want to do. And if that means going back into the minority, many of those Republicans are okay with that. They have absolutely no problem with that. So here is John Kennedy yesterday on Fox. Cut number 27, please.
