Okay, our friends, so today we have heard the request for more Minecraft stories, and who are we to say no?

**Lisa Bueno** (0:10)
We're no one, we're going to say yes.

**Lisa Bueno** (0:12)
We're going to say a big fat yes, we will.

**Lisa Bueno** (0:15)
Two more Minecraft stories. So today we're reading a Mobs of Minecraft story.

**Lisa Bueno** (0:18)
It's called The Guardian of the Depths. And this is part of the Mobs of Minecraft Treasury by Christy Webster, illustrated by Alan Batson. What's your fun fact?

**Philip** (0:30)
Fun fact. So when it first came out, I was probably the first one who knew about it.

**Lisa Bueno** (0:35)
Were you?

**Philip** (0:37)
It came out and I went to look for the book. Yeah. And I found the book on Kindle.

**Lisa Bueno** (0:43)
Yeah.

**Philip** (0:44)
But it was part of this treasury. So I asked for the treasury and my mom said, what book do you want? And I tried to tell her about the Guardian of the Depths book.

**Lisa Bueno** (0:54)
Yeah.

**Philip** (0:55)
And she went on Amazon and she looked it up and she was like, I don't see it, babe. And then she forgot all about it.

**Lisa Bueno** (1:01)
I did.

**Philip** (1:02)
Five weeks later, I was like, look it, I found it again. And she was like, oh that, I think we already have that. And I was like, no, we don't. And then a week later, she finally realizes, oh, we haven't read that.

**Lisa Bueno** (1:16)
Yeah.

**Philip** (1:16)
So we have the whole entire set.

**Lisa Bueno** (1:18)
Yes.

**Philip** (1:19)
We have like, we have the Enderman one. We've read the Enderman one. We've read the Snow Golem one. We've read the Chicken Jockey one, the Bee one, the Mooshroom one, the Creeper one, the Skeleton one.

**Lisa Bueno** (1:32)
Yeah.

**Philip** (1:33)
But we haven't read the Guardian one.

**Lisa Bueno** (1:36)
Right.

**Philip** (1:37)
And I really, really want to read it.

**Lisa Bueno** (1:39)
Yeah.

**Philip** (1:39)
I've never read the Guardians yet.

**Lisa Bueno** (1:41)
We should read it.

**Lisa Bueno** (1:42)
And that's true. I do want to go on record for saying that we have read a number of the other mob stories. But this one, we have not read. And it's actually part of a treasury with the other ones that we have read.

**Lisa Bueno** (1:54)
But we haven't read this one, so we're going to do it right now.

**Philip** (1:57)
Yeah. Yeah.

**Lisa Bueno** (1:58)
Okay.

**Lisa Bueno** (1:59)
So today's story, The Guardian of the Depths is read by Mommy and...

**Philip** (2:05)
Philip the Rancharito Kid.

**Lisa Bueno** (2:07)
Philip the what?

**Philip** (2:08)
Rancharito Kid.

**Lisa Bueno** (2:09)
Philip the Rancharito Kid.

**Lisa Bueno** (2:11)
Cool.

**Philip** (2:12)
Because rancharitos are yummy.

**Lisa Bueno** (2:13)
Because rancharitos are yummy.

**Lisa Bueno** (2:15)
Oh, they are.

**Lisa Bueno** (2:15)
They're chips and they're delish.

**Lisa Bueno** (2:17)
Okay, let's read, shall we?
I was adventuring across a vast ocean. As I paddled my boat, I noticed a huge dark shape in the water beneath. And in the picture, we can see him. He's in his boat. He's going along. Hmm. I was curious. Once I dove in for a peek, I could see that it was a massive underwater monument. It was made of prismarine, beautiful blue-green blocks. Some of them even appeared to change color before my eyes. I wanted to take a few of these special blocks home. I got out my pickaxe and was about to strike.
Suddenly, a loud noise filled my ears, and something strange appeared in front of me.
It was all over in an instant, but the shock almost made me jump out of the ocean, says the guy. Once I calmed down, I lifted my pickaxe again, but it felt heavy. I tried to mine a block, but hardly made a dent. Then I noticed some particles swirling around me. I had mining fatigue. I couldn't break blocks.

**Lisa Bueno** (3:47)
Have you ever had that happen before?

**Philip** (3:49)
No, yeah. It's so common when you're fighting guardians in Minecraft.

**Lisa Bueno** (3:53)
Is it?

**Philip** (3:55)
Here, one fact. If you have a shield, and if you put a blue banner on it, well, just normal shield, you can block the guardian's lasers.

**Lisa Bueno** (4:10)
Oh.

**Philip** (4:10)
But it's a myth that if you put a red, a blue banner on your shield, it'll carry the laser back at the guardian when it cheats you.

**Lisa Bueno** (4:21)
Oh, that's a myth?

**Philip** (4:23)
Okay.

**Lisa Bueno** (4:24)
Before I had the chance to figure out what happened, a beam of energy shot toward me from a fish-like creature swimming around the monument. Ouch!
