This is a true crime roundup from The On Deadline Podcast. We explore crime stories reported on by Audacy's radio newsrooms across the country.
I'm your host, Lauren Barry. This week, we have roundups of crime cases from around the country. From the sentencing of the man convicted of rapper Tupac Shakur's murder, to President Donald Trump's decision not to live stream the execution of the Fort Hood mass shooter. We'll start in San Francisco, California, where Audacy station KCBS Radio covered a crime scene involving a retired police sergeant.

We start with a North Bay neighborhood that's been rocked by a triple shooting that left three people dead at a home in Marin. KCBS's Matt Bigler joins us live from the scene in unincorporated Mill Valley. Matt?
Matt Bigler (0:58)
Yes, Steve, I'm here on Strawberry Circle, which is a quiet drive through this area of Mill Valley. This is where the Marin County Sheriff's Office says deputies responded to a 911 distress call just after five o'clock last night. A person inside that home was able to get out before deputies arrived. They secured the scene and then found three bodies inside.
SPEAKER_4 (1:20)
The reporting party who made that 911 call was able to make their way outside of the home. Our deputies made a small perimeter around the home and decided to make safe entry into the home.
Matt Bigler (1:31)
Sheriff's spokesperson Miguel Almaguer says they came across that grizzly scene, three bodies, all shot to death. This appears to be a tragic murder-suicide.
SPEAKER_4 (1:41)
We can tell you there is no threat to the surrounding neighborhood. There is no threat to the community.
Matt Bigler (1:46)
Now while the Sheriff's Office is holding off on formal release of the identities, multiple sources confirm the dead include two retired members of the San Francisco Police Department. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, they are Sergeant Kevin Mannix, his wife, former Deputy Chief Anne Mannix, and one of their adult daughters. This tragedy has sent shockwaves through the Bay Area law enforcement community. Again, the investigation continues. If you or someone you know is struggling, The National Suicide Prevention Hotline is 988
Live in Mill Valley, Matt Bigler, KCBS.

contact the San Francisco Police Department at the scene. A horrific scene in Pico Union had happened on Venice Boulevard near Catalina Street just before 1 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Police say a man pulled out a gun and shot two children, a 10-year-old girl, approximately, and a 4-year-old boy. Then he turned the gun on himself. Police say all three were taken to a hospital. The two children were pronounced dead.

In the Chicago area, Audacy station WBBM Newsradio reported on two traffic-related crime incidents. Here's one report from Monday, October 12th.
Rachel Pearson (3:37)
Investigators say 25-year-old Kendall Chesley attacked the man Saturday on North Salem Avenue, then drove a Honda toward him. The car hit a building instead and Chesley ran away. Palatine officers later arrested him near Rand and Hines Roads. The victim suffered stab wounds to his chest and hand, but is expected to survive. Chesley also faces an aggravated battery charge. Rachel Pearson, Newsradio, 1059 WBBM.
Lauren Barry (4:02)
And here's the other report from Wednesday, October 14th.
Roger Plummer (4:07)
28-year-old Pedro Anzaldua and 32-year-old Janey Palomo were arrested on Tuesday, according to the Illinois State Police. The ISP says on September 5th, Anzaldua and Palomo were riding a motorcycle on I-55 in the southwest suburbs when they allegedly fired a weapon at a vehicle after a road rage incident. No one was injured in the shooting. Anzaldua, whose charges include attempted murder, is in custody, while Palomo was issued a notice for her to appear in court. Roger Plummer, Newsradio, 1059 WBBM.

Audacy station, KYW Newsradio in Philadelphia, continued coverage this week of an ongoing investigation into an allegedly botched murder case. Let's listen.
SPEAKER_13 (5:02)
District Attorney Larry Krasner is blaming the Philadelphia Police Department for a botched murder case in which the suspect, now accused of killing Officer Shane Sieber, was acquitted and let out of prison. KYW's Crime and Justice Reporter, Kristin Johansson, first reported the case. She joins us live with the very latest on this. Kristin?
