Mental Performance Playbook

October 26, 2026

Coach yells something from the sideline. One athlete hears it as help. Another hears it as proof they're about to get benched. Same words, two totally different voices in their head. Welcome to Day 8 of 75 on the Mental Performance Playbook.

Mind Full or Full Mind. This is what we are talking about here today in the Mental Performance Playbook and what we are breaking down. Those are gonna be two main parts that we are going to be covering here. And this episode is coming from the fact that mindfulness and hearing that and talking about that, sometimes, there is a negative connotation to it. Sometimes people don't like to talk about that. They hear that, they're thinking all wonky-dory, hokey-pokey, you name it, it's fake. It's something that they don't want to talk about for actual performance. That's why we don't talk about that at TAH. Train it at TAH or do anything with mindfulness. What we do is something more like a full mind. And the mind, understanding that, can't be full without first knowing these two distinctions. And the first thing that we are going to cover is gonna be these numbers 1 over 2 1 over 2

This is coming to us from the fact that roughly, and there's different studies that show different numbers, but roughly 1 out of every 2 people actually have conversations with themselves during the day, throughout the day, at practice, at work, you name it, before they're going to bed. And the other person, the 2 out of 2, does not, is not having much inner voice, inner dialogue, talking to themselves. The reason this is our number 1 piece that we need to do, is because we need to build this word. Where? We need to build awareness. When we are building this awareness, when our student athletes are building this awareness, now we can start to work on how they're actually responding in certain parts of the game. If you tell them, hey, don't respond like that, but they're not aware that they're responding to about the event, the outcome like that, because they are the 1 of the 2, who does not have that mindful, they're not full of in the mind understanding what's happening. We're going to break that down into what is filling their mind up, and they're not going to be knowing and understanding that that's coming. So, another key piece to be aware of is what we're doing here on the Mental Performance Playbook. If you are new here, my name is Gabe Rummel. I am the founder, the creator of TAH, our mental training, trackable mental training services for families, for the student athletes, for coaches and teams as well. Our Mental Performance Playbook here breaks down elite mental exercises and deliver them in actionable mental exercises for our student athletes and their families to use. We have a big exciting launch coming up the new year. Therefore, we decided, hey, let's just give out to our customers, to our clients, to the athletes and the families who work with us and deliver some more mental exercises online for free. These whiteboard sessions, we're starting to pick up. We're like, hey, for that 75-day launch, let's get 75 days of content out on our Mental Performance Playbook episodes so people can start training these and working on these. If you're new here or not, please check this out. Implement the exercises that we cover here today. And then while you're doing that, share this with someone. Go up, press the share and the subscribe, the follow button while you're doing it. Just hit all the ones like it and leave a comment for what you want to see next on these episodes. Now, you are aware about what we're doing at the Mental Performance Playbook here, brought to you by TAH. You have that awareness. One out of two. Now, two out of two, hopefully, know what we're doing here. But the full mind, how do we get it full? See, without that awareness, think about it like a cup. There's hardly anything in it. There's hardly anything in it. Once we can start to fill it up, full mind, once we start doing the mental training and we train what should be filling it up, we are going to be setting ourselves up for much, much greater levels of success, what we want to have as success. So, let's go over to the second part here for this episode here today. We're going to keep this one shorter for us and sweeter, so then you can implement these exercises. First off, for the full mind, starts with the awareness. Become aware, one out of two.

If we're thinking to our student athletes, they just don't seem like they're even understand what they're doing out there in the game or at practice or they're not thinking. And the coach is saying, oh, they're not going to get recruited.

The awareness is probably not there. They're not fully locking in and they don't know what to fill up their cup with.
