It's October 8th. You're listening to New York Rangers News Today. AI-powered coverage of your squad. Alright, so the New York Rangers are off to a hot start in the 2026-27 season.

After that rough season opener where they lost 3-0, they bounced back with 4 straight wins, all by multiple goals. That's how you grab the attention of the fans for sure.

Most of those victories came at Madison Square Garden, and fans are probably feeling a whole lot better about home games now. Last season, they struggled hard, losing a bunch in a row and getting shut out multiple times. What a difference this year is making. One standout player has been Alexis Lafreniere. He's set to turn 25 on October 11th, and it looks like he's finally hitting his stride after finishing strong last season.

Coach Mike Sullivan is putting a lot of trust in him, especially on the defensive side of things. That's a big signal of growth. In a recent game against the Islanders, Lafreniere really showed off his skills. He made a crucial play during a board battle, setting up a goal and even ended up scoring a hat trick. When your teammate, Mika Zabanajad, says your ceiling isn't even reached yet, you know you're making waves. With five points after five games, it's clear Lafreniere is ready to step into a bigger role. The coaching staff's confidence in him is a huge deal, and it'll be interesting to see how he drives the team forward as the season rolls on.
