Linus Sebastian (0:31)

What's up, everybody?

Luke Lafreniere (0:33)

Welcome to The WAN Show.

Linus Sebastian (0:35)

Dude, it was a huge week this week. You saw that Apple released the Microsoft Surface Duo.

Luke Lafreniere (0:43)

You got your hands on it early? Wow. No, no, no.

Linus Sebastian (0:47)

No, actually, this one, the Microsoft one folds more ways than the Apple one does.

Luke Lafreniere (0:51)

It is remarkably thin considering how old that phone is.

Linus Sebastian (0:54)

You know, it was an interesting idea, one that Apple, in my opinion, has a better take on than Microsoft did because the whole, yeah, there's an actual gap between your two completely separate displays thing was obviously not gonna work. We're gonna talk about Apple's event this week. I assume you didn't probably watch it.

Luke Lafreniere (1:16)

I've seen highlights. Yeah, classic Luke.

Linus Sebastian (1:19)

Classic Luke, so we'll go through some of the things that you might be legitimately excited about and some that you probably won't care about.

Luke Lafreniere (1:24)

I mean, I heard the pricing and just kind of tuned out.

Linus Sebastian (1:26)

No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Mark my words.

Luke Lafreniere (1:29)

Okay, all right, all right.

Linus Sebastian (1:31)

I will make Luke excited.

Luke Lafreniere (1:33)

Oh.

Linus Sebastian (1:34)

Between now and the end. Oh, what? Of talking about the September's Apple event.

Luke Lafreniere (1:39)

All right.

Linus Sebastian (1:39)

All right, and other news this week.

Seriously, Sony and Hideo Kojima have broken up. So we're gonna talk about that. What else we got?

Luke Lafreniere (1:50)

Well, if you've been waiting for good video games and you're a really big fan of the Elder Scrolls, I've got news for you. There's an IKEA and Skyrim crossover. We'll figure out what that means a little bit later.

Linus Sebastian (2:04)

Skyrim always sounded like the name of a product at IKEA.

Luke Lafreniere (2:08)

Kind of, actually.

Linus Sebastian (2:09)

Yeah.

Luke Lafreniere (2:09)

A little bit. Also, LG TVs, they've been caught spying on people.

Linus Sebastian (2:15)

Uh, yeah, it, uh, bleh.

The show is brought to you today by MSI, along with Cape, Ahrefs, and Corsair, with our rap partner, as always, being dbrand, our laptop partner, Being Dell. You can kinda see their logo if you try really, really hard. They really gotta put big ol glowing, bring back glowing logos on the backs of laptop lids. I'm so into it.

Get out. And of course, our chair partner, Razer, who, oh, I'm so sorry, Razer. Also, you're sorry, Razer, too. Also, I'm so sorry, Creator Warehouse, I'm supposed to be wearing this, and you're sorry, too, because you're supposed to be wearing that. Anyway, why don't we jump right into our headline topic this week, which is, of course, Apple's big September event where they launched the iPhone Duo along with some other things that I think Luke is actually going to be pretty excited about. First of all, the Duo. It opens to a 7.6-inch inner display that Apple says is 50% larger than the 18 Pro Max. When closed, it's about the size of a passport with a 5.4-inch screen on the outside. When it's open, it is Apple's thinnest phone ever. And in a first for Apple, it has a FaceTime camera hidden under the inner display. The price is the thing that Luke got all upset about, which makes sense because it starts at $2,000 US dollars.

Luke Lafreniere (4:05)

US dollars.

Linus Sebastian (4:06)

With pre-orders opening on October 16th ahead of an October 23rd launch. You have never really shown a lot of interest in foldables.

Luke Lafreniere (4:19)

No.

Linus Sebastian (4:19)

Does anything about Apple's approach excite you at all? And let me give you a few options. I'll give you like some multiple choice options here. One of the things you could pick would be the lack of any kind of hole punch or notch on the large format display.

That's an option. Something else kind of cool. So, like the under screen camera going mainstream.

Luke Lafreniere (4:42)

Yeah.

Linus Sebastian (4:42)

Apple pushing that, okay, I'm inserting my own opinion here a little bit.

Luke Lafreniere (4:46)

No, I like that.

Linus Sebastian (4:47)

I'm so sorry, but I'm into it.
