It's Jim Cramer here. You're listening to the opening bell of CNBC's Squawk on the Street. Don't miss a minute of the action.
Carl Quintanilla (1:07)
Good Monday morning. Welcome to Squawk on the Street. I'm Carl Quintanilla with Jim Cramer, David Faber at Post 9 of the New York Stock Exchange. Futures are adding to gains ahead of last week's gains, and ahead of an important week, got events for Apple and Tesla, some key inflation data, US-China trade discussions kicking off right now, in fact, in London. Tenure yields back above four and a half. Our roadmap begins with the US and China meeting for those talks, Secretary Besant, Secretary Lutnick, and Trade Rep Greer in London for this face-to-face with Beijing's lead negotiator.
David Faber (1:36)
Warner Bros. Discovery is splitting into two public companies. We'll tell you what that means for the companies, and of course, for the media landscape. And Apple is set to kick off its Worldwide Developers Conference. That will be later today, and of course, it does come with plenty of questions for the company about its AI strategy.
Carl Quintanilla (1:52)
Let's begin with the markets. S&P is entering a new trading week slightly above 6K. US and Chinese officials, as we said, meeting in London for trade talks. Jim, pass it on Squawk today. Kind of framing this amount, maybe a reset on Rare Earths.
Jim Cramer (2:05)
Yeah, I think that we didn't think about Rare Earth when we started, which is, or maybe we thought about contacting Mexico, which has big Rare Earth, or maybe we thought about doing an NP materials deal, which was of course a spack, but I think we didn't do anything. So we kind of got hung from the get go. I'm not quite sure exactly what we were thinking. I think that the key is a person who happens to be in London at the time, Jensen Huang, because they want very much to have advanced ships. You make advanced ships versus some sort of Rare Earth. But David, the fact is they are Rare Earth. We used to be Rare Earth. We kind of gave it up, environmental.
David Faber (2:41)
We gave up brewers. Now we need them. They've got them.
Jim Cramer (2:44)
Yeah, and so we need them for... It's not just autos. I mean, it's pretty much everything we need.
David Faber (2:49)
It's a lot of things, not to mention future products as well, that we're not making a lot of. The robots are going to need them, too.
Jim Cramer (2:54)
But how about the F-35? That's great to be hostage to China, right? The F-35 or the chief warplane.
David Faber (2:59)
So it gives them some leverage, doesn't it?
SPEAKER_6 (3:02)
What the fuck?
David Faber (3:04)
Good.
Jim Cramer (3:04)
Well, I got you. You weren't a Tony last night for that, huh?
David Faber (3:07)
That's why I'm here for you guys. That's why I'm here for you.
Jim Cramer (3:09)
Yeah, well, we'll talk. This ass love in a moment. But in the meantime.
David Faber (3:12)
Is that all I'm good for?
Jim Cramer (3:13)
No, I just, that was so.
David Faber (3:14)
See how his brain worked? Actually, you're not good for anything. Oh, except maybe some ridiculous stuff on media.
Carl Quintanilla (3:19)
See human associate ticker symbol.
SPEAKER_1 (3:21)
Yes, exactly.
Jim Cramer (3:22)
Mexico has a sizable Rare Earth. I don't know whether they've contacted them. I get the feeling that they thought somehow that we didn't need them, Rare Earth. I don't know.
David Faber (3:32)
Who thought that? The administration?
Jim Cramer (3:34)
Yeah. Well, the administration's so blind to China. You notice, by the way, Peter Navarro not going. That would have been a nice flamethrower in there.
