Hey James, you know, bad people often try to rewrite history to cover up bad deeds. Columbia Professor Dunning and the ex-Confederates said the lost cause, which Fossum claimed the Civil War was not about slavery. In Germany today, the right-wing ADF is trying to minimize the Holocaust. In America, Trump and his fellow travelers are engaged in a series of big lies. They keep insisting the Russians didn't interfere in the 2016 election. Actually, the chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee said there was, quote, irrefutable evidence, end quote, the Russians tried to interfere to help Trump. That was Marco Rubio. Trump still says and demands his loyalists say that he won the 2020 election. Demonstrably false, we've never had an election that had been more checked than rechecked. You lost, Donald, to Joe Biden. Now they're charging it was a witch hunt by prosecutors on January 6th. The premise is that all you out there who saw the violent Trump-inspired riot at the Capitol to overturn the election, brutalizing police, and rampaging to the Capitol was a mirage, you stupid people.
Supreme Court, of course, managed to draw out the case, so he couldn't be prosecuted. But not content, the Senate Judiciary Republicans dragged Jack Smith up this week to insult him with childish insults and lies. They know, if he had been allowed to continue, Trump was a goner. James, one bit of good news, however. I know you've been worried, with Tommy Tuberville leaving the Senate, is there a replacement? A Senator with an IQ of room temperature. I think we may have found him. Missouri Senator Eric Schmidt, who ferociously attacked Jack Smith for committing perjury and denying he went to an Atlanta Hawks game to conspire with a Georgia prosecutor. Your Senator, John Kennedy, even played Ed McMahon and held up a big sign with staff of Smith suggesting he went to a Hawks game.
Actually, the night in question, he went to a game, but it was 700 miles away at the University of Maryland to watch Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Senator Schmidt apparently does know the difference between a men's professional game with a woman's college game and or Atlanta versus College Park. You know, we're going to miss Tommy, but I think Schmidt promises to provide some comic relief in the years ahead, James.
James Carville (3:41)
Oh, that was that was just a stunningly wonderful moment. And what I love about these people is when they make fools of themselves, they just make bigger fools. I don't think that Tuberville or Eric Schmidt are anywhere aware of how stupid they are and how stupid they come across. But you just got to let them do it. I guess I want to go back to something that we talked about before.
At a minimum, we know that Trump doesn't care. I think yesterday is more evidence of the rather difficult theory to come to grips with, but it looks like it increasingly may be true. He firmly wants to lose. Now, why would you bring in 18, right now, just everybody's attitude about AI, tech, data centers, anything that you can imagine, if you wanted to really shaft them, bring in the 18 biggest AI people in the world and have lunch with them, and then everybody see it?
Now, I'm not a blue light. I know we're going to have to deal with this, and I'm glad that people say, I hope they're right, that our AI is ahead of China. But this is a move, if I'm a Republican congressperson, I'm running, I've got to come to grips with the fact that the President of the United States, of my own political party, might want me to lose. He's doing everything he can to beat me.
Albert Hunt (5:16)
You know, I have a little bit of a different view on that. He's doing a lot of stupid things, there's no question.
